I work in public transportation, and don't see it as my job to question where people are going, or speculate on what they might do when they get there. My job is to transport people efficiently and safely to their destination, period.

This man has every right to his religious beliefs but it seems those beliefs prevented him from doing the job he was hired do to. What say you?

You're clearly right, Bugman. The system board reached the settlement as a pragmatic buyoff, not an admission of wrongdoing, and $21,000 amounts to a severance package, not a whole lot in the scheme of things. The only way that this buyoff would not make pragmatic sense is if they expected lots of other drivers to copy this guy's action, which is probably not going to happen.

Profound misunderstanding of what exactly Planned Parenthood does aside, yes, this guy should have been fired.

You're right, Bugman. People who are contracted to do something can't just elect not to do it.

If your religious belief is in conflict with your job, then maybe it's time to find a job where it won't be in conflict.

Um.....he should've been fired. That's the equivalence of a cashier refusing to ring up pork for someone because she's Jewish and it's Kwanza or something. The company did not make him work on a relgious holiday, or ask him to participate in any religious doings.

This is just a prime example of why lawyers screw up this world. Some clown can flat out refuse to do his job and then link it to relgious purposes, then make the employer look like the bad guy. Just like when McDonald's was sued by people who claimed the SuperSize menu was causing them to become obese.

That's ignorant and irritating. It's sad that family planning can be called "morally wrong".

He deserved to lose his job, and did not deserve a penny in "settlement." What an ass.

F Planned Parenthood and the liberal idiots that support it!

This is not the political discussion forum. Take your views and go bitch about it elsewhere. Maybe people that try and force their political views on others, and insult others who don't see it their way, are the real idiots.

Extraordinary. The women he discriminated against should now sue him for the full amount and then some. Maybe his church will pick up the tab again.

This is similar when that judge got fired for refusing to marry a couple because the man was black, and the woman was white.

But anyway, people shouldn't take jobs that they feel conflicts with their beliefs and would prevent them from doing their job.

Sad that this happened. He should go do something more suitable to his beliefs.
