What does 121 points in the regular season and home ice advantage throughout the playoffs get you??? A first round exit to the 8th seeded Montreal Canadiens!!! LMFAO!! The Flyers needed a shootout win in the last game of the regular season just to make the playoffs and they moved on to the next round of the playoffs almost a week ago. Ya gotta love the NHL playoffs!! Bring on the Bruins!!!

Could not be happier.

Dear Ovechkin fans: Shut up!

:bwahaha:

.............................*sigh* guess it can't be helped.....but it wasn't supposed to end like that......fuck Halak....fuck Gill....fuck Marten....fuck all of them......

Now I have to see that fucker Crosby add another piece of hardware to his collection.....god I hate being a DC fan sometimes.....

was a great series but i'm glad that Ovi gets to go cry himself to sleep until next season lol!!

This is the beauty of hockey in general, and not just the NHL playoffs. If the games were settled by comparing line-ups, it wouldn't be much fun. 🙂

That said, I don't understand the Ovechkin-hate here. The guy's not a douchebag like Crosby, he's not a diva like Jagr, and despite missing 10 games of the regular season he still almost won the Art Ross trophy. Unless your name is Don Cherry, how can you NOT love a guy like that? 😕

I don't have a problem with Ovechkin. You're right, I actually dislike Crosby much more. I just think it's funny that all that hard work in the regular season and having the best record in the NHL gets you eliminated in the first round. I think you see that more in hockey than in any other sport. All it takes is a hot goalie to steal a series and Halak was amazing from what I saw of the Caps/Canadiens series. The Caps couldn't even decide who their starting goalie should be. That's usually a recipe for disaster in the playoffs. Also, Semin and Green were nowhere to be found for the Caps. They were much more to blame than Ovechkin for the first round exit.

There is no player in the NHL I despise more than Crosby. That said, I'm a fanatical Red Wings fan so you can understand where I'm coming from. However, my parents live in Montreal so I have adopted them as a second favorite team so I couldn't be happier.

Because he's flashy creep who gives out cheap-shots, gets suspended and has become one of the faces of the NHL without having never won a meaningful playoff series much less a Stanley Cup.

Plus he's Russian. Bad blood between the US and Russia.

He's a great player for sure, but the hate is more what I would call doubt. Because so far and much like Dan Marino or Peyton Manning was for years, Ovechkin is nothing more than a paper champion.

Plenty of individual records and hardware, but no team success to go with it.

Then here's my question....why not create a topic that gives some credit to Montreal instead of creating on that rubs it right in the face of DC fans that have had to deal with all this shit for going on 35 years now....yes, we know we've had a bad rep of going down in the playoffs, you don't need to act like a freaking elitist about it, cause there are plenty other teams that have either never won it, or haven't won it in the longer than 35 years that the Capitals existed.

Now as for YOU Cy/MiG...allow me to dissect your obvious Crosby slurping bit by bit.

Flashy....so a player that has scored 269 goals in the 5 seasons that he's been in the NHL, and hasn't shown the slightest sign of a swollen head is beloved in his home city is a flashy player? As far as I can tell, he's a hell of a lot less flashy than a guy like JAGR ever was.

Cheap-shots...didn't know you were averse to contact in hockey, maybe I could direct you to a less physical activity, like CHESS

Suspended...okay...he's been suspended like 2 or 3 times in his career, twice this season. Show me a player that hasn't...if I was you I would be more concerned of the folks that WEREN'T suspended, Matt Cooke, Evan Downie and Marion Hossa especially.

Face of the league without winning a meaningful series....hard to argue...but at least its not like a guy like Tracy McGrady who NEVER got out of the first round. Not only that, the guy can play like no one else...look at the goal he scored in his rookie season against Phoenix or last year's goal against Montreal or Buffalo...the man CAN FLAT OUT PLAY!!!

Wow....and I thought FOX was bad at generalizing things....so you wanna tell me you had a problem with the Red Wings of the 90s...cause they were LOADED with Russian born players. All I can say is, I always thought that sports was an equalizer and that it didn't matter about race or nationality, because its a TEAM sport...nationality shouldn't be at all an issue.

Now this is probably the best point you make in that entire post, and I can't argue this point at all. I'm sure there is a little doubt in the mind of a lot of people...however, Marino got there once very early in his career before he had reached his prime, Ovechkin still has a long career ahead of him, and the management of the Capitals I'm sure are going to do whatever it takes to get him whatever he needs to get that Cup....and everyone in DC will be cheering loudly when that cup is finally raised.

^Actually, I'm a Geno Malkin and Eric Staal fan. I respect Crosby since he puts points on the board and all (plus he pretty much saved hockey in Pittsbugh), but he's a little soft (like Gretzky was).

And Jagr was a punk for sure.

Duly noted, and I apologize for the 'slurping' comment, but I stand by my rebuttals.

And yes...Jagr was a damn punk..

No apology needed, it's I who tend to be frank to the point of confrontation. And I do think Ovie is good, just... I can't quite place it (though I do have two examples of his questionable actions below).

And yes...Jagr was a damn punk..

And how...

Also, just for the record (not trying to pick a fight), if Crosby said the following:

Ovechkin said Sunday that he saw Halak's hand shaking on a replay when the Canadiens goalie took a drink of water after allowing a goal to Fehr on Saturday night.

Or did this:

<object width="640" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/OzIGsOOrmS4&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/OzIGsOOrmS4&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="640" height="385"></embed></object>

I would also think him a lesser person. I will say that Ovie is far better than the likes of Jagr, Jeremy Roenick and/or Sean Avery!

See, way too many people made something out of that whole thing of him spraying the kid. If I was in the position the kid was in, I could hold my head up high to say that I got sprayed by one of the (at the very least) top 3 hockey players in the WORLD, and he stopped right in front of me. Having an experience where I almost got ran down at a Redskins training camp about 10 years ago, I know kinda how it feels.

And the whole him talking about Halak's hands....I prolly would have kept that to myself in retrospect...I think a lot of us thought that the Habs were done at that point.
