Re my thread located here and the time spent with fellow ticklephiles, I started to think what we all can do to help. Here is my idea....

My clipstore is here

I think all the content producers should band together and each donate some content to contribute to the disaster. 1 clip per producer.

Each of the clips are placed in a clipstore on clips4sale.com. We could arrange with the owner of clips4sale for ALL proceeds (outside operating expenses) to be donated to the Red Cross or other credible organization.

The rebuild effort is likely to go on for some time and I just think that they need all the help they can get. What better way can there be for us to help while doing what we love?

What are your thoughts all?

My thoughts are that i'm wondering why the public should donate money while the US govt wastes billions on illegal wars.

I agree, it makes my blood boil to think what they're spending on the war effort. But help is needed now, and as fellow humans I think we should do all within our immediate control to help.

I've been paying to help the Katrina victims for years, its call Tax. Seriously, saving those people's lives in the government's responsibility at this point. They have all the money they need.

While your statement is politically correct, I think your view is a very sad one.

Picture an old woman in the street getting mugged by a 16yr old drug user, could be knocked down to the ground and killed.

Would you be that member of the public that doesn't even stop to help, simply walk past muttering 'well, hell.. its not my job to help, the police should do that".

While you do pay taxes which is placed into a public fund, anybody with even a reasonable insight can see that those funds are not always directed to the most appropriate areas.

I never said it was your responsibility to pay, I simply raised a way we can help people that need REAL help, instead of debate.

That analogy isn't correct because it implies that the people in New Orleans are helpless and need us to fend for them. If a SWAT team had jumped on the mugger and pinned him to the ground would you grab a gun, run up, and help them? It doesn't matter if you could, your help isn't needed. The Government and Insurance companies are down there in full swing paying for everything, any money you send would go virtually unnoticed.

What happens if the SWAT team don't have enough men to fend off the attacker? The analogy is correct. Or would your response be the same and you would say 'well, i've paid my taxes, they should have sent more men".

What happens if you haven't got insurance?
What happens if (evidently), your government is over stretching itself on the war effort in Iraq and doesn't have enough funds to take care of all those that need it?

I still find your response to a charitable call somewhat narrow minded.

Just some thoughts in response to comments here.

1) If we always say that things are the responsibility of a government or a charity and leave things to them to get done, nothing will get done. While there are some good efforts out there, the magnitude of this disaster makes their efforts a drop in the bucket. This is a major disaster that will take the efforts of everyone to help these people survive.

2) The government wasting money on other things. While this is definately true on many levels, why condemn innocent people for what a few idiot politicians do or don't do?

3) Some insurance companies will likely be going bankrupt after this one. We are talking about a disaster the magnitude of which this country has never seen before. They aren't equiped to cover it. AND...even if they had been, many of these people couldn't afford the additional flood insurance that is what was needed to cover the majority of the damage in many areas. That leaves them with nothing to fall back on.

Folks, no matter what we think of the establishment or the many structured efforts out there to help these people, their best efforts will not be enough. This demands a grassroots effort to get these people back on their feet. Politics and all that doesn't mean shit to someone who has no food, no clothing and no home. Don't do it for the nation. DO it for each of the thousands of people whose lives have been torn apart. Please don't let these people suffer because you think it's someone else's responsibility. This is everyone's responsibility.

I honestly believe that response to this will be a defining moment for this nation. Do we prove what a great people we can be? Or do we prove that half the world is correct that we don't give a shit about anything but ourselves and don't care enough to take action when it really counts?

Ann

Oooops, nearly forgot the initial intent of this thread. Though I don't buy clips, I think this is a great idea and commend you for your efforts.

I couldn't agree more. Unprecedented disasters such as this call for unprecedented help.

I really hope more tickle producers will step forward and take this opportunity to help.

Fanatstic idea-some sorry responses

.I think this will not come to pass because as we all know the hardest hit community was the poorest sections of that region. I do not think they were insured when I think they were struggling for essentials(food, clothing) everyday of their lives.I guess only time will tell but To see comments like what is in this thread well, you can see why this country is so despised the word selfish comes up quite often in their reasons why they hate the western world. There is a statistic out there that shows we as a nation give to charity about 1/3 less in dollars compared to a country with 50 % of our wealth.

I honestly believe that response to this will be a defining moment for this nation. Do we prove what a great people we can be? Or do we prove that half the world is correct that we don't give a shit about anything but ourselves and don't care enough to take action when it really counts?

]Well I know from where I live the community has stepped up to the plate big time!! One example was a local television station that collected over 5 million dollars in 4 days in front of four supermarkets!! All cash or check donations and there are many more stories like that.So I would have to say we have as a nation came to the rescue of those in need. I agree this is a long term situation that will continue to be looking at the private sector for a major chunk of charity. I for one have given money and yet it doesnt seem quite enough I applaud you for your efforts-keep plugging away

So, as to the original message, has anyone taken you up on your offer, macker?

Why not create some new content, so both we and the victims win out?

This would almost have to be done, because if TIB, for instance, or Francois, or Jeff, or TickleCentral, posted a clip that was already posted on clips4sale, if someone bought it, they wouldn't buy it again, even if it went to charity.

I'm still waiting to see what the response is from the producers who post on TMF. I for one, would be very willing to donate 1 custom shoot. I think if each producer did this, the resulting clipstore would make a great compilation of styles and would allow us all to carry on what we enjoy, whilst helping... all at the same time.

I think your idea is a very awsome and kind one. If I was a vid producer id def be goin with u on this. But unfortunatly I am not. It really IS up to us, the people in the country to actualy do something/chip in to help since the powers that be seem to really not give a shit if ya know what I mean.

Thanks for the support dskodj. Although you may not be in a position to donate custom movies like I am, by replying to this thread, you are keeping it alive and keeping the possibility open that my idea can happen and we can provide that little bit more help.

I'm not saying it will solve all the problems there, but it will certainly make things better, even in a small way. To be able to do that, would make it all worthwhile considering the terrible conditions many are being forced to live with.

I recall being in Phuket, Thailand just after the Tsnuami and seeing the suffering that people have to go through following natural disasters like this is truly heart breaking.
