Can WVU win the national title this year?

I was watching espn this morning..and the commentators were saying WV could win the national title this year..I for one hope so...WV usually always has a pretty good team..and this year is no exception..also they come into the season ranked fifth..but our governor is making them play Marshall today, which WV said is a waste of time...but now they must play Marshall every year..it doesn't count however towards their ranking if they should lose..

To answer your question, in my opinion, no WV will not win a National Championship this season. It is either Ohio State's ( which will make Sadira happy ) or Notre Dame's to win. They are the 2 best teams in the Country and that should not change. They will be ranked number one or number two all year long.

thanks for answering, George...critics are saying WVU has a running chance...hmm i wonder if they ever won the title before? and boooooooo on Ohio hehe..just kidding.. and god...the game today between WV and Marshall is now being called the friends of Coal Bowl..sighs..it will be an annual event with the winner getting a Governor's Trophy...yea that's an incentive to have to be forced to play Marshall..

Good luck to your Mountaineers, isabeau. It would be nice to see a real Big East team win the title, not like those love-'em-and-leave-'em Miami interlopers. Of course, WV won't have a perfect record after they get upset by the Orange on October 14, but they could still win the national championship at 11-1. 😉 And no, West Virginia has never finished as the top team, but at least Syracuse has--once.

hmm well they will beat Notre Dame..at least i hope they do...i'm not a mountaineer but i'm rooting for WVU...meaning i have all my teeth, and don't go around toting a gun...and wear shoes...and also have indoor plumbing..

well, since notre dame got their butts drilled by michigan 41-24, i'm going to have to say that west virginia has a legitimate shot, but i don't know if they can beat louisville. louisville and west va have very good teams, but they also have extermely lopsided one side teams. west virginia can run with steve slatin and pat white at the helms, along with their backup running back averaging more than 5 yds a carry, while louisville can pass to the record book with brain brohm. but louisville has a very strong team, and they have a possibly to make it there after they proved they could spank miami 31-7.

plus, even though i'm a tech fan, i think west va would've had tech beat the way they are this year.
