Can you be too old for the club/bar scene?

Hey y'all,

I am 29 and planning on going clubbing with some friends of mine after the holiday buzz is over. Anyway I was wondering that seeing as how I am in my late twenties and friends are in their early thirties, might we be a bit too old to be in a club or bar? Or am I just over thinking this?

Depends on which bar and where. Groups of a certain age usually have their fav spots and so that club or bar sort of becomes tagged for it. More of the same age group follow.

Depending on which bar, yeah, you and your friends might stand out but there are always places for the 29+ crowd. Shouldn't be that hard to find.

You'd stand out in a particular college bar, but late twenties is hardly too old for the scene in general.

This. There was a regular at the club I worked at who was about 60.

Last club I went to had a few old couples out there getting their grove on. As long as you have fun. That's what counts.

But if you require a nurse to help you to the dance floor, then yes your probably too old.

Good lord...no way! I have been going to Nightclubs since 21 and that was quite a few years ago! I love going to clubs and listening to live music and I always get along with everyone of all ages.

I've never seen the attraction to the club scene, ever. Loud, obnoxious music and loud obnoxious drunk people. And I'm 26.

Nothing wrong with bars I suppose, but it's just not my thing. If it's not your thing any more, there's nothing wrong with that either.

There is something for everybody. I joined private clubs when I was in my 20's. Your local neighborhood bar should cater to everyone.

There are clubs out there that are more catered to those in their late 20's and 30's... guess it depends on the scene where you live. But like most have said, you should be fine.... just don't be creepy dude hitting on the youngens', LOL 😀

It probably depends on your attitude. If you're comfortable and at home, others will take it for granted. It you're anxious and seem unsure of yourself, you'll stand out regardless of your age 🙂

While clubbin' isn't really my thing, go where you want man...have fun...and laugh at the people that judge you (if this even happens at all).

You'll be a nice, mature addition to the environment.

You CAN be too old but IF you look and dress the part, you can usually knock 5-7 years off your age.

A couple of months ago, I was at a card shop showing off my collection and this college girl accused me of blowing my entire tuition on cards. I told her my age and she thought I was joking so I had to show her my ID. LOL! Since I work in an office, I have to dress office-casual but on the weekends, I dress like a thug with baggy jeans, jerseys that are too big and air jordans. It knocks off quite a few years. 🙂
