Fisherman's Prayer

God grant that I may live to fish,
until my dying day,
And when it comes to my last cast,
I then most humbly pray,
When in the Lord's safe landing net,
I'm peacefully asleep,
That in his mercy I be judged,
As big enough to keep.

I saw that earlier today. Very sad....he was one of my faves. 🙁 My thoughts and prayers to his loved ones.

That's so sad. I loved watching him on the show. My thoughts are with his family. He really did put up a strong fight. I was worried when I watched the one episode that he had the chest pains and had to go back to port.

I remember that. He was coughing up blood and STILL wanted to stick it out for his crew. Turns out he almost died because it was a blood clot in his lung.

According to the information on Discovery Channel's web site...he sufferred a stroke on Jan. 29th while at St. Paul Harbor.....sounds like he was offloading in the middle of opilio crab season.

I hope the show's Producers show the appropriate respect for him and his family and if cameras were present at the time, that they don't air it during the upcoming season.

The thing I enjoy most about the show is the feeling that the crews make up a big family, struggling against the harsh and dangerous environment, though making nice money in the process. One of the members of the family has died, and that has me bummed out. I just hope that TDC doesn't try to get a bunch of drama out of what happened. A nice tribute at the beginning of the season will be appropriate, and quite sufficient.
