Honestly, this is the first time I've heard about this.

I really don't know what to make of this. I wasn't really a Castlevania fan to begin with. The last one I played was Simon's Quest for the NES.

The movie could go in one of two directions:

1. They screw it up. Making it too "Japanimationy," effectively missing the point and adding too much colour, zing, and misplaced humor.

Or...

2. They go the neo-gothic blue screen "van Helsing/Underworld route.

One question: Has there been any mention of Uwe Bol having a hand in this film under any capacity?

I remember Castlevania very well for the original Nintendo System. I had beaten Medusa a few times but i always had a hard time fighting Dracula at the end. I hope to see the movie when it is complete

Like Dus, this is the first I've heard of it. I hope its more like van helsing. That could really make it sparkle. Of course it couldn't be as bad as the wimpy simon belmont on Captain N the cartoon series. LOL though I loved that series for the camp, Belmont needed to be cooler in it than what they made him.

did a search on IMDB, and came up with some odds and ends, including 2 Castlevania movies being released quite some time back, and some information on the upcoming one in '09. supposedly, it will be an origins story that will cover the details of the Belmont/Dracula feud.

Anybody have any information r/e the Castlevania movie due to come out in '09? All I know is that Johnathan Frakes is rumored to be cast as 'the grandfather' (I assume a Belmont clan member) and that the film focuses on the origins of the feud between Dracula and the Belmont clan.

I haven't heard anything, but Bruce Camble would be a good Simon Belmont 🙂. Then again Ted Raime would rock as Dirk the Daring of the Dragon's Layer game.

Maybe twelve years ago. He is too old to play such a character today. Even if it becomes a dark comedy of sorts.

My guess is that they'll get some flash in the pan actor from "lost" or the "OC" or something like that.
