Hello, hello.
Books by celebrity-turned-authors - as opposed to famous writers, if you see what I mean. Read any? Good 'uns? Bad 'uns?
Obviously, there are celebrities who have books published in their name, though they have little-to-nothing to do with the writing process. Just more shit to flog, part of the celebrity brand and all that. And then there are celebrities who really give it a go.
I read a good one by Steve Martin (as in the comedian, obviously) called The Pleasure of My Company. To be honest, I was expecting full-blown zaniness lol. In fact, it's quite a sweet, touching novel. At least, I thought it was.
One book I'd like to read, just to see if it really is as bad as the critics made out, is Morrissey's The List of the Lost. He's such a revered and influential lyricist, and I think for that reason people were expecting something pretty special... But like I say, I haven't read it, so I'll continue to reserve judgement until I do!
