While this season has been frustrating for my Chiefs, the loss Sunday to the Chargers pales in comparison to the loss of Patrick Mahomes.
This season was a crapshoot to say the least. From a constantly rotating offensive line that had Mahomes running for his life at times, to a kicker who has been ironically inconsistent, to problems on both offense and defense, to all the injuries, perhaps it is the end to what has been an incredible run.
A run that has included nine straight division crowns, hosting the AFC Championship 5 times in six years winning it five times in six tries and winning 3 of the past five Super Bowls. They had made the playoffs every year since 2014.
Losing Mahomes to a confirmed torn ACL in the last two minutes of the game may mean the end of an era. Who knows what Mahomes and the Chiefs will look like when Mahomes returns, probably not until the 2028 season. We'll have to wait and see.
