"Circuit City" Going Out Of Business

By the time this recession is over, the retail world will be nothing but Wal-Mart and Target. How sad.
 
Sad, I spent 4 years working there in high school and college, it was a good place to work. I was always treated well and they actually gave the part timers paid time off.
 
that realy sucks curcut city is a good store and it realy sucks that so many people are loosing there jobs that bites the only good thing to come out of this is that if ya looking for electronics of some kind u can get a good deal that is the ohnly part i like about that
 
That's a damn shame. They always had a number of very budget friendly DVDs. I used to stop there quite a bit. End of an era.
 
I heard rumors of Old Navy going out of business too, which sucks cuz I like their jeans. 🙁

The world is coming to an end.
 
Now all we got is Best Buy.......good, Circuit CIty didn't have nearly as much stuff anyway.
 
I helped build many of the Circuit City stores in St. Louis in the early 1990`s. Its really sad whats going on in this country these days. Earlier this week it was announced they are closing a Macy`s department store in March in my area. That particular store has been in business for over 40 years. Restaurants have really taken a beating as well. And many universities around the country have postponed expansion due to their endowments going down the crapper.
 
Circut City was great 15 years ago, mainly for cd shopping. Awesome sales on already cheap discs.......buy 2 get the third free, 50 percent of the 2nd and 3rd disc you buy, etc.

I heard rumors that their liquidation could be STARTING at 75% - that being the case, I plan on being there early to see if they have anything good left.
 
Not surprised in the least. I feel like some stores are just waiting around to be closed. I feel that there are many more to follow. Its a crying shame.
 
Ours already closed in December. It was one of my favorite places to spend my mula. As the closing got nearer, the discounts got better. They even hired people to stand out in the streets all over town and twirl those signs with the weeks new discount on it. I picked up some really kewl deals on some video stuff. BEWARE...if you have reward points you are going to face a battle because noone knows what to do about them. To me it was clear...I earned them by shopping there so give me my discount! After alot of phone calls and what not, they finally granted me my rewards points. Also beware, if you have a CC credit card thay won't let you use it. Everything is cash only with NO returns.

We also had a Mervyn's close, a Gottschalks and a Line & Things. This sucks big time.

Sad news indeed. But, those of us who need things are fortunate to have some great clearance sales coming up. Since Drew & I never got our digital camera, we'll likely take advantage and get it there.
 
Well, I went to the local Circuit City this morning. The line at opening was like Black Friday, only we were actually civilized and orderly, lol.

The discounts were rumored to be as much as 75% off, but the actual discounts were mostly 10%, with video game accessories at 30% and mopvies at 75%. As time goes on, the discounts will be steeper. I plan on going back there periodically to measure the discounts against the remaining inventory, so as to get the best deal on the 22 or 24 inch monitor I want.
 
Damn, Circuit City wasn't half bad... I'm waiting for RadioShack to go under... That will be a day worth celebrating. Overpriced bastards...
 
That sucks,there goes my warranty.I just bought this computer there about a month ago. 😡
 
Now comes the hard part. waiting long enough to get the best discount, but not long enough to lose out on what your looking for. :fingerscrossed:
