Well it's 2004 and many more films have been released since I last check the general consensus.

So....is Citizen Kane still the greatest film ever made???!!!🙄

andrew dice clay's "the adventures of ford fairlane" just took top honors.

Contrary to my flippant remarks...........

....on the Russ Meyer thread,"Kane" is up there in the top rank in my view. I have recently accquired a pristine new version on DVD,with all the usual extra stuff, its bloody great.

I am a great fan of American "Film Noir" so its not hard to persuade me that it may be the best film ever. However it does not really make sense to pick any one film, its like asking what is the best car ever made?...well that depends on what you want it to do.

I am rather partial to "Casablanca" myself, although "Citizen Kane" would surely make my top 5 list. 😀

Citizen Kane is a masterpiece bar non. But I am also thinking that "The Adventures of Ford Fairlane" is right up there as well. Damn womens groups shooting down one of the greatest movies ever made because Andrew Dice Clay, a devoted husband and father at the time of filming, was the star. As one character says "Suzuki Samurai. You Bensonhurst piece of shit" My hats off to everyone involved in the making of it, and for it being the only good film that Renny Harlin that was any good. Even he said it is the only movie that whenever he is in a bar anywhere in the world chatting away with other patrons, and they find out one of the movies he directed is Ford Fairlane, someone always buys him a beer for it. He also said to this day, it is still the best movie shoot he was ever on, and everyone who worked on the film says the same. "So Andrew, here's to you buddy, sucking me D**k!" You'd have to have watched the movie to understand that line. I honestly think that in quite a few years now that the movie is on DVD it will gain more prominence and cult status. It is the movie that closestly resembles a live action Bugs Bunny cartoon to date.

Well, I'm a woman but...

I loved Ford Fairlane and all it's lameness (Dice kicks ass! In real life he's supposedly a sweetheart) I saw him in Reno--Hysterical!

But best movie ever made IMHO is Citizen Kane.
XOXO

I'm afraid "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas" is slotted way above "Ford Fairlane".Although Fairlane had that really cute actress Maddie Corman playing the part of ZuZu (she was also in the movie "Some Kind of Wonderful").I was about to ask What became of her but the IMB site lists she's done some cameos in certain films (That I've seen but didn't recognize her!!!).She was very "tickle-worthy!!"

Hmmm...

If "Bladerunner," "The Crow" and "Dark City" aren't anywhere near the top, I probably shouldn't say anything.

Uh... what about "Strangeland" and "House of 1000 Corpses?"

"Cemetary Man?"

"Rocky Horror Picture Show?"

Oh, yeah... LONG LIVE PETER JACKSON! (It'll take me a while to get over there and KILL HIM for totally f***ing up Return of the King! I waited a bloody YEAR for that trash, not to mention the buildup with the first two movies!)

...I'm really weird.

All though most of the lines in Ford Fairlane are classics, I love when he walks onto Johny Crunch's (Andrew Titlebaum's) Yacht, steps on the squeaking dildo and sings "love boat...takin another run". This is also the movie where we first saw Kari Wuhrer, and also Lauren Holly at her hottest. Also the kid was Brandon Call from the TV show Step by Step in the only role I thought he was cool in.
