I'm normally only into horror movies and some comedys. But i was over at creature-corner.com and saw this movie as a review on thier website. It has some young stars in it that have become big name stars. It was filmed in 1982 so i never was able to see it since i was born in 1983. But i hear it is coming to dvd or is out on dvd now.

Has anybody seen this movie?

The plot:
''Andy is a new teacher and an inner city high school that is like nothing he has ever seen before. The students have to go through a metal detector when they go through the front door and everything is basically run by a tough kid named Peter Stegman. Soon, Andy and Stegman become enemies and Stegman will stop at nothing to protect his turf and drug dealing business.''

If it is the movie staring Timothy Van Patten, I saw it years ago.

Ah, yes. The first movie I saw when I got stationed in SoCal. I've had it on tape for probably 20 years (Yes, VHS does last that long, if ya don't keep re-recording on them). Timothy Van Patten is brilliant as the punk who rules the school. Also starring a young, chubby Micheal J. Fox, Roddy McDowell, Perry King, and the Dude who played "Strife" on the Zorbo Hercules series. The movie was suspenseful, awful in parts, and prophetic. Rating: Good movie, bad budget. Van Patten's punk plays a beautiful piano solo, a piece Van patten himself composed (It's in the credits).

I remnember seeing it, but can't remember much of it. I remember Class of 1999, it's good to see on TV but not worth renting.

Yeah that's the one. Is the movie any good? or do you remember?

Yes it was good. Some parts, as I recall, were disturbing. Tkrexx is telling you pretty much what I would have.

Ok thanks osco and tkrexx looks like i will have to see about buying this movie on dvd or renting it.

I remember seeing "Class of 1984", standard "punks run the school" stuff. Couple of really disturbing, sicko scenes I could've done without. Nothing that I would call a "classic" horror or splatter movie.

I don't see this movie as a horror movie. Yeah i saw it on a horror website reviewed. But i look at it more as a action type of movie. So we'll see though once i get my hands on it and rent it or buy it on dvd.

I hope you enjoy it. I didn't want to tell to much about it because I'm the type of person who doesn't like to ruin a movie.

I'm sure that i will thanks. I'm going to pick it up this friday.

Yes, I remember that movie very well. I think we all found it entertaining at the time. I don't want to add any spoilers either. I think it's become a cult classic over the years. Those types of films are usually over-the-top in one way or another. It's definitely not a horror film. More of an suspense/ action. If you take it in the spirit it was intended, and completely suspend belief and disbelief, you'll probably find it entertaining enough.

Van Patten was a completely dispicable villian, while Michael J. Fox's character & his plight in the film were laughable.
