This may sound cold-blooded, but bear with me. While I'm sorry that happened to your co-worker and I hope he makes a full recovery, I'm glad it happened to that dumbass bitch.

Why? Because in the very least, she should be charged with reckless driving, endangerment and as many traffic violations that she can be hit with. Then she should be dragged before a judge, costing all kinds of lawyers fees and then be found guilty and go to prison for awhile. And while she's in prison, she can sit there and think all about what she did to her own brother because she was too stupid to wait until she got home to check her myfuckspace page. And she can think about that during the times she's not trying to hide from Big Bertha and her famous broom handle.

Oh, and if Jeremy dies, they can add manslaughter of some kind to the charges. Now, she'll be an outcast from her family and will probably hang herself in her cell.

Again, I'm sorry for Jeremy and I hope he recovers, but his sister can burn in hell with all the other ipod/cellphone-user-while-driving assholes. I hate them worse than techno "music".

Of course, we're all hoping he'll come out of it and won't pass but if this is what it took to teach her and those around her...I mean hold on, MYSPACE?!?! Checking your MYSPACE while you're DRIVING?!?!?! REALLY?!

Using your phone without a hands-free device recently became illegal here. I wonder if anyone's got the stats to prove it's helped since.

Then again, the fine is so light, people still do it all the time. It doesn't even show up on your record if you're caught. It's something like $50 and a lot of people don't really give a damn.

I almost feel as if no one's doing enough. There should be commercials, a web presence, billboards, it should be on the radio, on social networking sites, etc. Warning kids about the dangers of not checking their stupid whatever's while they're driving.

Would it really be that much trouble or cost that much to do a little more? If there are things out there I certainly haven't seen them. Other than the law being changed, which, like I said earlier, a lot of people just ignore and go on blabbing while driving or texting or whatever.

That's always been the problem in this world. Nothing is ever done about a problem until someone is seriously hurt and/or killed. Then the government wants to step in and go to extremes with the laws they pass and it all gets truly nuts.

I have a simple solution: they should make it legal that if someone is driving erratically because of using one of their precious little toys, you can get out of your car at the next light and chop them in the throat. Bet that would cut back on the amount of assholes using their phones and such.

Goddamn yuppie. He gets out...and immediatly gets back on his cell phone!
Yes, I guess some people are so addicted to that shit...I see people walking around with it glued to their ear, then there was that chick who robbed banks...while talking on her cell phone.

He stayed on that damn cell phone the whole time we waited for the cops. Sadly, it was in a parking lot, so he didn't get a ticket.

At the restaurant I worked at, my boss told us, if we approach a table and someone's on their cell phone...ask them waht they want to drink. If they ignore you, go back in five minutes. Repeat until they order. Make them wait for you, since you had to wait for them. I loved that boss.
We had tables that waited a half an hour, then get pissed at us because they had to wait.....

I am very sorry to hear about what happened to your friend. I truly hope he makes it through every thing with as little permanent damage as possible.

However I do have a few comments to make. Yes I agree that the sister was irresponsible in what she did. I agree that it is almost worth say it was unfair that she got to walk away from it unharmed. What I don't agree with is trying to throw the law book at her. Do you not think she is going to have enough to deal with. Her negilagnce has put her brother close to death. That guilt may never leave her. I can't even imagine what it would be like if he does pass. Not only has she lost a brother and has that pain but has to watch the rest of her family grieve knowning that she is the reason he is dead. They may not try to look at her and see that but it will be there. It's not something that can just be brushed aside. So yes let us draw the family into more truama and grief by having to watch the sister be put on trial for the death of her brother. Let's make the family have to pay for a funeral, lawyers, fines and what have yous. Let's make them stretch themselves even thinner with emotinal roller coaster that would be. I like to watch people suffer so yeah I'm all for that.

The last thing I want to point out is this. There are many saying that she is a horrible person for even daring to do such a thing as mess around on her phone while driving. How many people can honestly say they have never talked on their phone, messed around with the radio, hell had you attention buried in a map or directions that you got distracted? How many can say they have never cut someone off or swerved in the lane or had to stop short because your attention was else where at the time? It is a shame what happened. I can understand a friend being upset but really now to sound so outraged that this happened and at the sister is on some level understandable and on another bigger one to me a bit hypocritical. I am guilty of talking and texting on my phone while driving. It's not something I try to do often but sometimes I do. Hopefully I don't have that day where something like this happens. I rarely use my phone if some one else is in the car but I have on occasion. After hearing this I plan on making more of an effort not too.

Personally, I hope he pulls though and feel sorry for the sister whether he does or not because she will always have to live with what happened. Sorry if you think my responce was cold or harsh or what ever negative you want to connect to it but I felt it had to be pointed out.

May a miracle present itself.. what an awful needless tragedy... my husband is the capt of the fire dept here and i was up until recently a volunteer firefighter and we too have notice alot more accidents and tragedies due to this growng problem... my prayers will be with you and your friend...

I get to work today and find out that a young co-worker of mine was critically injured in a car accident, was airlifted to Burlington with a crushed skull and is not expected to make it.

He's 19. Just started dating this beautiful girl. Bought his first car.

He was in the back seat, his sister driving. And here's where I cannot help but just get fucking pissed beyond any measure of the word.

Apparently, she was using her iPhone or some such device we can't fucking live without these days to check her fucking MySpace page. While driving.

Have we gotten THAT addicted to this shit these days? Is seeing your goddamn name on a thread or webpage or whatever shit so goddamn important that we're willing to jump at the first sign of further attention? "Oh lookie! Someone posted to my page! Someone likes me! I have to read this RIGHT NOW!!!"

By the way, she's fine. Got a couple bruised ribs and walked away. Her boyfriend banged his head. My friend was thrown from the car from the angle it hit and was thrown into a tree head-first.

I hope the fucking post was worth it.

Sorry, I'm just so sick of the MySpace-ization of every damn corner of our society these days. People counting the words of strangers and electronic buddies greater than the health, safety and well-being of those in thier real lives. If they HAD real lives half the time.

Jeremy's in a coma, has already had a couple surgeries and is not expected to make it barring a miracle. 19 fucking years old. 19. Even if he does make it, he'll never be the same and probably won't be able to function. For what? For fucking WHAT?

Dave this is a sad tragic thing. And I share your feelings exactly. These fucking stupid robot, brainless idiots of today's world and socciety (like your friend's sister) are putting everyone in danger and ending lives as a result of their stupidity. It's like if these droans dont have a computer strapped to their head or cell phone up their ass, they're totaly lost and dont know what to do with their worthless exsistances.

Sadly, this is 90% of the world today..and there's nothing we can do about it. This post really saddens me reading it..and angers me all in one. I know your friend is not expected to make it, but I do hope for a miracle that he will, and maybe be able to function again. I will say a prayer tonight for him. And my deepest regards.
