I've always thought that the idea that "real" dominant or submissive doesn't switch was very odd. What, does that make the topping or bottoming they usually do fake somehow? If it does, then I guess such a dom would "really" be a sub and vice versa. Except they can't be because they switch.

Silly idea, when you look at it closely. Now, if a given person just doesn't feel comfortable playing with a switch, that's fine. That's their own issue, however, and they shouldn't go looking for validation by running down others' kinks.

No, you bring up some very good, very relevant points, Redmage, and I am glad you aired them.....

Back in the "younger" part of my tickling carreer (ha ha).....I was "verbally incenirated " by a "Dom" who lashed out at me as if I had insulted her family lineage, for merely asking if she lee'd in tickle sessions...... 😱 ......this verbal assault would have probably have forever scarred more sensitive souls, but fortunately jaba is "brain dense" enough to let such ragings roll off the back, and keep smiling like a loon.....

Oh, I have. Usually it takes the form of "I could never bottom to Master/Mistress XYZ. I've heard that he/she bottoms sometimes. A Real Dominant(TM) never bottoms." I've also seen the same reaction by tops to a certain bottom who's known to switch. And I've seen people (mostly tops) take offense as your lady did at the suggestion that they might switch.

I think both types are signs of insecurity. The first seeks to justify a personal preference by casting it as a normative standard, and the second does that and also tries to fend off an offense to their fragile self-image.

So a Dom who enjoys being tickled .....would not usually seek out such activity, in "public" or "private" play......because of her perceived position as a Dominant? And such tickleplay in her mind would "cross the line" even in private play? I realize that we are talking in generalities here.......so does she just supress these urges....or manifest them in other forms of activity?
