Yeah, I had a hard time with it, too. I think it was getting my lips around the word Ara...Areee...the Cardinals.

And I'll tell you something. Being played AT Arizona with all those screaming fans who've been dying for this for...about 437 years...I don't see Phillly pulling this off.

That is why they say the regular season doesn't matter. Arizona finds a defense during the playoffs, and it will carry them through. I remember awhile ago, someone saying that if they had a defense they'd be scary. Well...now they do.

And you know what? With all these so-called "great teams" blowing the fuck out of it, what's not to like about Arizona? Maybe it's time for a change. Time to pull for the underdog, the Cinderella...the little team that could. Gotta give points for moxie (it's a term from back when the Cardinals last were good, look it up).

Not that I think anyone's getting past Baltimore, but I can't say I'd hate to see the Cards lift the trophy...finally.

It should be a fun game/atmosphere. Arizona has a lot of momentum after smashing the Panthers and will be looking forward to their rematch with the Eagles. Arizona's first Conference championship game will be more than enough motivation. The University of Phoenix Staduim will explode.

Un. Believe. Able.

How old is Kurt Warner?

How bad is AZ's run game and D?

And why can't teams figure out to Double Team Larry Fitz?!

Philly better stomp the Cards...

Otherwise McNabb and Reid are the worst ever.

(Plus, I don't think the Cards will get Jake Delhomme to throw 5 picks next week! 😀)

The worst ever??? Did they or did they not just knock off the number 1 seed??? The same number 1 seed that was a number 6 a year ago. This team will be going to the NFC Conference title game for the 5th time in 8 years. Who in the last 40 years has had that kind of success??? Only a handful of teams.

Arizona is not as bad as everyone has made them out to be. They can't win on the road. They do so. They can't win on the East Coast, they do so. Also, let's think about their two wins in the playoffs. They beat both teams from the NFC South. That division won 40 games this season. So, in fact, that was the best division this season. Not saying that the Eagles should lose but give BOTH teams credit. Nobody saw this coming.

Remember week 15 when Carolina and the Giants played??? It was all about the number 1 seed. It was to a match-up we would see in the NFC Championship game. Seems funny about all the hype now.

The Philadelphia Eagles versus the Arizona Cardinals. I like it. Because of all the hype that these two teams didn't get. They don't deserve to be in the playoffs. Well if you feel that way, then don't watch the game on Sunday. This is a great match-up. Both teams CAN'T win. But this might be the MOST interesting of the two games. McNabb and Reid the worst ever??? Not by a long shot!!!

Playoff History

The Cards are the NFL's oldest team but the worst playoff team ever...until this season. This playoff run erased any futility before that.

1947 NFL Championship: Chicago Cardinals 28, Philadelphia Eagles 21

1948 NFL Championship: Philadelphia Eagles 7, Chicago Cardinals 0

1974 NFC Divisional Vikings 30, St. Louis 14

1975 NFC Divisional L.A. Rams 35, St. Louis 23

1982 NFC First Round Green Bay 41, St. Louis 16

1998 NFC Wild Card Arizona 20, Dallas 7

1998 NFC Divisional Minnesota 41, Arizona 21

2008 NFC Wild Card, Arizona 30, Atlanta 24

2008 NFC Divisional, Arizona 33, Carolina 13

2008 NFC Championship ???????

I want Arizona to win. i just dont think they can do it though. i think their cinderella ride is over.

i hope arizona wins to.. not only because i dont like the igles and because it would be cool for such a disrespected underdog to win.. but i think the steelers will man handle the cardinals if it ends up being them in the superbowl

Worst ever in the clutch or when it mattered.

Losing to the Cards would make it 4/5 times they've lost in the NFC Championship, 3 times at home.

Even Cowher lost with 3 different QB's (Neil, Slash, Big Ben)

With all due respect, I disagree. It is NOT easy to win games in the NFL. You make it seem as though it is so easy. The worst ever??? Not even close. There are teams that wished they had the same opportunities that McNabb and Reid had.

Also, let me know what great superstars they have had to help them along??? Even now, outside of Westbrook there are really no stars on this team. The year they went to the Super Bowl they did it without T.O. in the postseason until the Super Bowl. Please tell me what big-time Wideouts he has on his team. Look at Arizona. Three Big Wide receivers. Look at the Giants, since losing their big wide out Burress they won only one game in 6 weeks. Look at Pittsburgh. They have Hines Ward. Look at Baltimore. They have Derrick Mason. The Eagles DO NOT have a 1000 yard wide receiver that you have to double cover.

The Eagles have lost three home games. You are right. But isn't winning games prior to the Championship as much clutch situations??? You can't get to that round without winning. I mean they are 7-0 in the first games they play in the playoffs. In a win or go home scenario isn't that clutch??? You can't say they are the worst ever. They win lots of times despite their team make-up. John Elway for years didn't win the Super Bowl. But had Denver NOT had him they wouldn't have even been there. Same holds true for McNabb. Without him, the Eagles probably don't get to the playoffs to begin with.

Listen, I am not a fan of the Eagles or McNabb. But I think you are not giving him enough credit for getting there. He has NEVER ( outside of one plus years with T.O. ) really had a game changing receiver. Unless you want to put Freddie Mitchell and Chad Lewis into the Hall of Fame. He has never really had a superstar running back until Westbrook came along. Unless you want to put Duce Staley in Westbrook's catagory. What has been around McNabb that you can say took the pressure off of him. Even now with Westbrook, he doesn't have a great supporting cast. Talented teams can go on the road and win. When you look back, the teams that played the Eagles were more talented than the Eagles.

I agree that 'it isn't easy' to win in the NFL, but again, as a Steelers fan who's lost 4 Championship games and a Super Bowl since 1994, there comes a point and time when you have to say:

We can't win WHEN IT MATTERS.

Championships matter. Ask Dan Marino.

Just like the Iggles under Reid and McNabb.

If they lose to the Cards, they will be like Dan Jansen (pre 1994), David Robinson before Duncan, the Sox pre 2003 and the Cubs:

Always qualifying, never winning when it mattered.

Paper tigers.

4th place for life.

Not good enough.

Championship Matches

I would to see the Las Vegas odds on Arizona playing in, much less hosting the NFC championship game at the start of the season. Congrats to the Cardinals.

Philly is great. Great coach in Reid, great quarterback in McNabb, great all around player in Westbrook. Having said that, they are having a less than spectacular year, should make for an interesting game in Arizona.

The AFC game between Pittsburgh and Baltimore should be one of the most physical games of the season. Each defense has players that don't just want to tackle the person opposite them, they want to run over them, stomp on them a couple of times and then plant them into the ground. The final score of that game could be such that a total football virgin would think that the Pirates were playing the Orioles. lol

Should be a great weekend of football, and I will be at work, following it on the computer.

Throwing the Chicago Cubs into this conversation is almost hilarious. In the last one hundred years the Cubs have for postseason ten times. Think about that. The Cubs have averaged one playoff appearance every ten years. And the Cubs haven't been to the Series since 1945. Certainly you can't put McNabb and Reid in that same catagory. That is just not fair.

Ask Dan Marino--- He was the reason his teams went to the playoffs many years. Miami had ABSOLUTELY no running game when he played. It kind of is the same deal with McNabb having no receivers. You need to have a team in order to have a chance.

Look at this matchup against Arizona. Arizona is a more talented group offensively. Defensively Philadelphia is more talented. If Arizona plays like they did the first two games in the playoffs can beat this Eagles team. Part of the reason is because the Cards are play with house money. A team like that can be VERY dangerous.

I will put the spreads out tomorrow. I would like to know who the favorites are here.
