Commission Price Thread

G'day folks,

After having been privileged enough to work with two of the communities most splendid artists for some years, and admiring their's and many other fine artist's works for even longer, I had a wee thought. How about a thread where our talented craftsmen and women can list their individual commission prices for easy reference?

I think it would help the customers and the artists alike, the customers for a quick and easy way to find their favorite talent's prices and what exactly they're willing to do (and maybe even come across some new talent) and the artists for general advertising and to make it known that they do in fact do commissions. Both customers and artists can also use the thread for price comparison if they feel the urge.

Some artists will accept comissions, some don't, and it's impossible to tell without contacting them, often which people will do with a detailed description of their wish, which is fine unless said artist doesn't do commissions 😛

What do you all think, is it feasible or am I talking bananas?...which wouldn't surprise anyone, least of all me. 😉



Oh! And don't forget, sometimes your favorite artist might be happy to do a request free of charge if you ask REALLY nicely, so definitely try that first! 😀

That's not a bad idea TickleMantis. I was thinking of getting a commission or two myself in a bit, but I don't know who all is accepting them or not. This thread could be a handy reference!

I do accept commissions myself. I am happy to accept them between issues of my comic book. I can usually get commissions done within the week, baring any unforseen problems. To date, I have done mostly cartoon and comic book characters, with the occassional celebrity or video game character thrown in.

My commission prices are:
Pencil work only (one character)= $10.00
Inks = $15.00
Colors (via Photoshop) = $20.00
Add $5.00 per additional character
Backgrounds and/or devices, add = $5.00

Commissions have been slow for me, probably because not many people know I'm taking them like you said.

CARTOONS
a flat $28 for a 10" x 8" 300dpi image starting off (size can vary depending on what is asked for) with the heavily shaded more 'air brushed' style

-- additional $8 for a heavily detailed background (a normal background is just what the character is positioned on and a wall and floor and an object if appropiate; a heavily detailed background is everything you would see if you were to turn around and look at all the objects on your wall and floor right now)

---- additional $8 for a second character


Keep in mind, what you see on my gallery is most likely what I will be most comfortable doing. Each piece takes on average 14 hours of work.

After commissioning me to do something, I will work on making a pre sketch ready for approval, and then I will get on it right away. Typically it's three days till the commission is done if nothing really important gets in the way.
