Since last night, I've been getting a message which says

"Your computer is infected"

I bought a new,. paid for version of Avast, and did a scan early this morning.

At the end, it said "My computer looks good"

Well when I came back online later, it said the same thing.

So, I ran the same scan again, and then got the same message "Your computer looks good"

So after doing those two scans, I'm still getting the same message.

"Critical virus alert, your system is at risk"

If I downloded the new virus software , ran two scans, and got two "Your computer looks good" messages, then why am I still getting the same

"Your computer is at risk and infected"

I followed their instructions to clean, and these messages are still coming up.

Now I'm puzzled, and quite concerned.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Unless the message is coming from Avast itself, it's probably a spam ad.

Another possibility is that it's malware. Avast won't necessarily protect against all malware. Malwarebytes is a good program for that.

The message says its coming directly from Microsoft Edge, the browser I almost always use.

I'm also getting messages from Avast saying.

"Avast has aborted connection from a URL tech scam"

It could be spam, or a scam. I dont know

No,. it keeps popping up.

I did a scheduled "Windows Update" at 6 am this morning when I was not online.

I cant say that the Windows Update put in the virus, because I've been getting the message since last night.

I'm not sure how to remove this or if it could be dangerous, or just annoying pop ups.

Even though I'm getting these messages, the computer seems okay, knock on wood, to surf the internet , post, send emails etc.

Not sure how to get rid of this, since I did a Windows update, and downloaded updated antivirus .

Hopefully this is just annoying pop ups, and nothing else.

Finally got rid of that message.

The "Spam/Virus" Detector that kept popping up since Monday night, Silverbron.com

According to the report I read on this company

"It has one of the lowest reviews of any spam detector, and genuine reviews are hard to find"

I looked around , and managed to find a "Turn this notification off" button.

Now, all pop ups and notifications from this that were driving me crazy the last 36-48 hours are gone.

No more pop ups or notifications.

Hopefully, God Willing, my computer will stablize, and stay that way.

I'm really glad to hear that you managed to get rid of that annoying problem and turn off those pesky notifications. Sometimes, really dubious programs can cause such situations, and it's a relief when you finally get rid of them. Speaking of computer problems, I've been there too. I recently faced sudden notifications, and some of my programs stopped working as they should. It was frustrating! So, I decided to upgrade my system and purchase a cheap windows 10 key. It really contributed to troubleshooting and eliminating those compatibility issues, and now everything seems to be running smoothly.

Those 'free' virus scanners will tell you that it's infected and for you to pay for the 'pro' version of the software

I'm glad you disabled the message dude but if I can make a recommondation...

NEVER USE MICROSOFT EDGE! Go with Chrome or Firefox instead. The protections with Edge are LAUGHABLE where as Chrome and Firefox have better options.
