I want to rant about an incredibly stupid credit card company. I have had this credit card for several years. (Not saying which company its from, but its a Visa from a nationally known bank) Anyhow, I have been dilligent with paying my bills for the time I've had it, so recently they offered me a 2nd card from the company, which I accepted and received. Then, after accepting and activating this card, I keep receiving the same dumb offering for what they call an "additional" card. I humored them and applied once, and was turned down not because of my credit, which is fine, but because they said I couldnt be approved for two cards within a 90 day period from their company. So I moved on, but I keep receiving both email, and mail offerings from this company insisting that I am approved for an "additional" account in addition to the one I was just approved for, and my old one, and should apply anyway. I wrote them a stern letter a couple of weeks ago and even talked to a supervisor on the phone and requested that they not send me any additional offerings until the 90 days were up, at which point if they wanted to send me a legitimate offer and approve me, then fine, I would accept. Well, several times a week for the last several weeks, both since I was approved for and received the additional card, and since I talked to them, Iam STILL receiving the same idiotic assinine offering from them insisting Iam "pre approved" for this third card. It will be interesting to see if they are still sending me the offering in Dec, at which time Iam eligible to be approved for the 3rd card from them, or if they will just stop sending it. I hope this rant doesnt sound weird, it is just so ludicrous how a credit card company can send you the same idiotic offering after they dictate their own terms, and turn you down. It makes me think that either they are dumb and dont know their own rules, or their computer is moronic. Has anyone ever had a weird experience with a credit card or other type of company with an idiotic computer? This is so weird. I swear I have received probably 15 offerings from them in the last 30 days, and have been approved for one. Not that I need more then one, I just wish they would stop being stupid and stop sending the offering until they intend to approve me. What idiots!

Id say keep the offers you get and then when your 6 motnhs passes, apply with it

I would, Lime, but the problem with that is, and what makes these offers more idiotic still, is that all of them say they expire after November 15, 2004, which would make them invalid if I held on to them. What you said would make sense, if the offers didnt have the expiration date. What idiots!

I got denied (well I didnt need a $20,000 limit, ty) but after they denied me, they kept sending me offers for the same thing they denied me for

Lime, believe it or not, the morons continue to send me the same idiotic offering. I got one today, and called to check. The automated system told me I will be notified in 15 days if I was approved. Of course, I also received a decline letter today from the company for one of their other gadzillion offerings that they sent me in the last several weeks, stating that I had been declined for the last one I applied for. Fed up, I called tonight, and of course spoke to someone who didnt speak English well. I asked the guy point blank why I keep receiving these offerings insisting that Iam approved, when in fact they dont intend to give the card to me. He claims that the offerings were sent automatically. To me, this is misrepresentation. Dont send me an offering insisting Iam "approved" for something that they dont intend to give me. My bet with this whole thing is that I will continue to receive these offerings up until Iam eligible to actually apply for a new card, and then they will stop coming. It is just unreal! The offer expires Nov 15, 2004, so it will be interesting to see how many more offers the putzes send me between now and then. Ugh, what losers!

Mitchell;

Stop applying for anything right now. Each time you apply for credit, you put an inquiry on your credit report. After so many inquiries in a time period, they will begin to drop your credit score for having too many inquiries. And they stay on the books for two years. Please be careful not to inadvertantly mess up your credit because these companies don't tell you anything. Thow away those applications as they come in and don't obtain any additional credit for awhile.

Thank you for that info. I will do so. I didnt know that. All I will do is to apply if they send me one after the three month time frame when they claim I can be approved. Besides that, I will toss them away. Thanks.

kis, one more thing. On the letter they sent me about the decline, they claimed that they based their decision upon their rules that one cannot apply for two credit cards from them within a three month period, and did not obtain a copy of my credit report, or base their decision on my credit report. I will stop applying anyway, until the three months that they told me is the alloted period to apply is up. At that time, I will apply for a new card if offered, and hopefully they will adhere to their rules and give me one.

No problem Mitchell. Seven years in the mortgage business, and I've seen a lot of crazy stuff done out of consumer ignorance. These companies don't care anything about you and won't let you know these count against you.

I suggest that you eventually get a copy of your credit report so you can get a baseline profile of you credit bureau, monitor for fraud, and learn what your credit score is. You need a tri-merged report, not separate ones. These are easier to read and are more comprehensive than obtaining separate ones. It costs some money (30-45 bucks) but it's worth it. If you see any discrepancies, you can dispute them either via mail or online. Everyone should know what their credit looks like and maintain it. It's easier to maintain your credit than to rebuild it.

Good luck, and I hope this helps. Oh, BTW, keep the copies of those letters-if they actually did add inquiries, you may be able to get the credit bureau to remove them if you have proof of the correspondence.
