We had something similar happen a few weeks ago here in my town. An off duty cop pull a gun on someone at about 2 am in a local bar. The State Police were investigating and brought it to the attention of the local so called cops. The cop in question is suspended with pay....... Ahhh, nothing like small town corruption and ass covering.

That would be SOP with any police department I've ever heard of. There is a process to be followed, and I doubt they could fire the guy while it's still being investigated.

As to what the good Dr. posted, the article mentions this officer had suffered a brain injury. Depending on the severity of said injury it might be best that he not continue his career as a police officer.

In my town, one of the local police officers had arranged with the local volunteer fire companies to let houses burn just a little bit longer so that the restoration company he owned could cash in. I believe this officer right now, as we speak, is awaiting for the central locking in his cell block to operate, so that he and his block mates can head off to lunch.
