I thought this was interesting.
I was visiting another city and went to purchase a corset from a well-known place.
I tried on once corset that fit beautifully in hips and waist, but felt off in the breasts. It is hard to explain, but the corset made my breasts look very weird.

I commented on that to the sales girl and she and another salesgirl both said I was not the only one who had the same reaction. In fact some of their steady clients who had purchase that style over the years, had noticed a difference and switched to a different style.

Turns out, the creator of this corset is based in Los Angeles and the majority of his local clients are the proud owners of implant breasts and he redesigned this style to accommodate the store bought breasts.

The sales staff have pointed out to the designer that the sales of his corsets in this store have dropped and asked he return to his old design at least for this store, but they have not heard back yet.

BTW, did manage to find a corset (or two) that fitted well---original breasts and all.

You lucky girl, two new corsets, wow :rotate: I love corsets, although I don't have an original designed one, just the cheap shop versions lol. But I aim to get myself a beautiful corset sometime soon.

Be good if you could post piccies of the new one's?

If you wanna know about corsets I believe our very own KittenToes is an expert, sure if she saw your thread she would comment 🙂

Oh and yeah, come on us 'natural' girls, and one up for us  Keep it natural 😉 Just goes to show, I suppose, how popular plastic surgery is getting that designers now change the styling of their garments to suit the current trends.

Thanks for responding. I can't blame designers for adapting to plastic surgery bodies, especially if that is their main market. But I have figured out a long time ago, not to go by the print or tv ads of Vic Secret, because the implants make any bra look like they are enhancing the bustline. Luckily, I have been buying bras for a long time so I can tell my the style and description whether I will enjoy wearing them or not. But this was the first time I witnessed corsets being affected by the implant trend.

Love corsets and you have to let us know when you get yours. I hate to encourage people to spend money, but.............I think you will happy once you get one a really nice one. And of course, be sure to chat with Kitten for advice on styles, fabric, etc etc.

My goddess, Godiva is also a total corset queen (she can even get herself into one by herself) and she has been a big help with me in my purchases (I now have three).

At the last Passive Arts party, we had three lovely young ladies join us, all wearing corsets (and no, they were not employees of PA but regular guests) One of them is the proud owner of about 12!!!! They are addicting.

Fetish wear in general can be a bit of an addiction.

They actually make men's corsets as well. I'm wanting to get one as part of an outfit I want to put together(think Cenobite).

I only wore a corset once, and I did like the way it both looked on me and felt on me. I never bought my own though, I probably should treat myself one day. This one was my friends, it was really nice too. It was black with red ruffles/frills at the top and bottom.

I've noticed, even in many print ads for corset makers,
that a lot of the corsets fit the women's breasts, but
they are completely out of whack for the waist and hips.

And sometimes the tops cause that nasty "muffin top"
look instead of the corset and the breast coming in line
with each other, because they're the wrong shape for
the person trying them on. Sometimes, at the bottom,
you can literally shove a hand between the body and
the corset, instead of them being tight fitting.

A friend of mine used to work for a ren fair selling and fitting
corsets, and has several, I'm happy to say that I got them
into loving corsets, and we have some of the same styles, now.

As they mold to your body, it's so important to make sure
that they fit as well as possible in the beginning (with
plenty of space in the back if you're going to corset-train)
and to not allow other people to wear them, but the initial
fit is really key.

I don't know which company you're talking about, Miss
West Coast Goddess, but it does seem rather odd 😉

Lee

You think so Lee? It doesn't seem so weird to me. I mean LA is SO bloody plastic, right? Talk about a bunch of self absorbed douchebags...Of course, THAT's not indigenous to LA (don't make me go there!) :xlime: but I bet AFA the implant crowd goes, your biggest population is centered in Sou Cal. I mean the South Beach/Ocean Ave crew has the same vibe and look but it's a much smaller area than LA.

We should all write the company and threaten to boycott. They don't have to know that those of us who love our corsets buy 'em elsewhere, right Goddess? :rotate:
XOXO

Goddess Lee, I am not sure which company is now plastic boob oriented, since I didn't buy it. But thankfully, there are still companies out there making them for my body. And my salesgirl did say the same thing about not loaning them out since the corsets should mold themselves to your shape. My first corset was purchased at a ren fair and I am always amazed at how well they are made and how much people know about them. For all my passion for them, I still feel very much like a neophyte. Seems as if you know a lot about corset, and especially the fitting.

My goddess Steph, we need to go corset shopping ourselves---the fun we would have. hehehe
Southern CA has it's flaws, but then it has it good points too.

I have broken that rule - three years ago friends and I went out
and we wore some of my corsets:

My absolute favorite is the black leather one, that one is really molded
to my body, and has held up well for the last dozen years or so.
Stormy leather made that one. It was discontinued, but they brought
the lombard back.

I also like some Versatile corsets, as long as they're fit well.

Yummmmmmmmmmmmmy!!!!! You and your friends look HOT!!!! That blue is just beautiful on you, color wise and style wise!!!!!

Stormy??? Wow, I've been to that place and my goddess, Godiva, has purchased some from there.

i knew you were hot, Lee...but...DAMN.

Ren Fest and such ain't the only place to get hand-made corsets. there's an anime convention that runs through here 0nce a year that has a vendor selling some damn fine steel-rib corsets. the women modeling were just as fine, too.

Mmmm...Renfaire (and a dear friend's "costume only" wedding) at Black Forest 15 years ago was my first corset experience~I was way skinny in those days and holy crap~I suddenly had boobs! :wow: It wasn't custom made but was VERY custom fit~I was fascinated at how quickly the seamstress sized me up (sans measuring tape) handed me a garment and a price tag, shoving me towards the register. She saw my skeptical face and nodded "It's returnable within the next hour if it's not a perfect fit and beleive me, it'll be a perfect fit."

It was.

And God yes by all means let's shop for corsets soon~you know I LOVE LA and all it's fabulosity, I just meant that per capita, here's your most unreasonably proportioned populace...:jester:
XOXO
