The Michael Crabtree saga is over.
The 49ers confirmed the signing of the 10th overall draft pick to the Santa Rosa Press Democrat on early Wednesday morning after a 71-day holdout.
The paper reported Crabtree should be at practice on Wednesday. The contract is for six years.
Former Jets and Chiefs coach Herm Edwards said the 49ers, currently 3-1 and in first place in the NFC West, could really benefit if Crabtree is ready to contribute.
"If this guy can play like everyone expects him to play, the 49ers are the best team in that division," Edwards said in an appearance on ESPN this morning.
Crabtree went to San Francisco on Tuesday and began negotiating with 49ers officials after a month-long standoff. His advisors had suggested Crabtree would sit out the season and re-enter the draft if the 49ers didn't offer favorable financial terms. -- Sean Leahy
