My friend Barney's distant cousin is Bob Dylan, and his mother told us she distinctly remembers being with him at extended family get togethers during childhood.
Of course, as I've stated on here before, I grew up with many famous people around me, even though they were not my personal friends. My father was Kiss' business manager from 1973-1980, and was also the friend and accountant of Michael Cimino, who directed the Deer Hunter, which won the Academy award in 1978. In addition, he was fraternity brothers with singer Paul Simon at Queens College, and went to the same high school as both Simon and Art Garfunkel, Forrest Hills High in Queens. Of these people mentioned, I never met either Simon or Garfunkel, but my mom met Simon once when my father ran into him on a plane in the 70s. I knew Kiss and Cimino quite well personally, accompanying my father to Kiss concerts, and Cimino's house and apartment. I would say I grew up with both Kiss and Cimino in my life, as I would say that having these people in your home for a business and social gathering when you're a young boy, would qualify as "growing up" with them, even though they were clients of my father's and not personal friends of mine.
