Apparently, Hindus literally worship the feet of their gurus (religious leaders). They believe that positive energy radiates out of the guru's feet, so they decorate the feet of gurus.
Also, having been friends with several who subscribe to this religion and having never once seen it or heard it mentioned, I find this highly doubtful.
Perhaps the correct term would be worship/pay/show respect to their guru's or elders AT their feet. It happens and is depicted in many religions.
Judging by the context of a story you recently posted in the Story forum I'm inclined to believe your claim is more what you would like to believe. If you have proof however, of course I stand corrected.
