Have you ever had dinner in complete darkness?
This was originally a project of our local School for the Blind, devised to further our understanding for blind people's problems. How they can find their seat, the food on their plate, how to feel around for your glass or the side salad. This dinner takes place in a normal restaurant which gets altered so that no light will shine in (e.g. a light sluice at the entrance), and all the waiters are blind, because they're used to such conditions.
This project has developed to a real local attraction; now many people go there just for the unique experience. And a local radio station offers a "real blind date" for singles on Valentine's day, with a delicious 4-course surprise "Dinner in the Dark". The guests don't know each other, and they can get to know a potential partner without being distracted by looks. Quite an interesting concept, don't you think so?
Is there anything similar in the States?
