Disturbing news about Chiefs Kareem Hunt.

Wow, just wow. The Chiefs did what they had to do. Sad, really, such a promising young man with a load of talent. All of it wasted now.

According to the Chiefs statement, he wasn't truthful to them about the incident when they first talked with him about it. Them seeing the vid confirmed that.

I consider myself a man of 2nd chances. If someone shows remorse for something they've done, and genuinely tries to better themselves afterwards, I think they deserve to be offered another chance. Obviously this totally depends on what someone did exactly. This footage regrading Hunt is clear as crystal, and there's gonna be a ton of legal steps that he's gonna have to go through. If he takes all the proper steps, and actually tries to better himself, I'd be supportive of him getting a 2nd chance. But again, it depends on how he handles all this. Ray Rices playing days are over, but considering what he's done since his incident, if a team were to give him a call, I don't think the outrage would be as bad as people think. I don't think it'd be like the Greg Hardy situation, in which he showed little to no remorse for his incident, and the Cowboys signed him anyway. And after spending one season with the Cowboys after the Panthers let him go, it became clear to everyone that he just appears to be a bad dude in general. There was also the Ray McDonald situation. Had multiple issues while with the 49ers, then had another while he was with the Bears. And that was it for him. Again, showed little remorse, and just seemed like a bad person in general. At this moment at least, I don't get that same feel with Hunt.

Donte Stallworth got a 2nd chance and played for three teams after he killed a dude while drunk driving. Adrian Peterson came back and played for the Vikings after the incident with his son, and has played for three teams since the Vikings let him go. And we all know about Micheal Vick and his 2nd chance after what he did.

I certainly don't condone what Hunt did at all. And not being truthful to the Chiefs certainly didn't help. So for now, I hope he's learned from this, takes responsibility, and betters himself.

My Redskins are currently going through some stuff regarding Reuben Foster who they just picked up. He's not gonna be playing at all this season, and next season is uncertain. With this situation though, not only is there no video, but the person making the claim against him has lied before. So this case isn't as clear. My stance really is just "Let the legal system do it's job". Because for now at least, unless I'm missing something it's just head said/she said.

Watching NFL Countdown today, things coming out that more or less exonerates the Chiefs and puts the NFL in a bad light. . .again (sigh).

I'm watching Adam Schefter talk about this and hear the breakdown of the events of last February:

1) Apparently, the police talked to people associated with the incident (not Kareem and not the woman) and determined there was nothing but a simple assault.

2) The Chiefs then talked to Hunt (without seeing the video) and he basically lied to them and told them that nothing happened.

3) The Chiefs were then going to do an internal investigation to try and interview the woman and other witnesses, including trying to get the video of what happened and were unable to do so, and that's when the NFL stepped in and said it was taking control of the investigation. The NFL also neglected to interview Hunt or the assault victim.

The NFL subpoenaed for the video and was unable to obtain it. Meanwhile, TMZ got hold of the video and that's when this whole thing exploded. As they say "a picture is worth a thousand words".

Here's what baffles me. How was it that the NFL was not able to get the video and TMZ WAS!!! Here is a powerful multi-billion dollar industry that can't get hold of a video of an alleged assault before a tabloid news website???? The NFL is dropping the ball (pun very much intended) and ends up looking very bad again.

You'd think with all of their resources and influence that they would be able to get their hands on just about anything they needed to investigate an assault, or anything they needed to investigate. As much as they touted themselves that they were serious about assaults by players and were going to leave no stone unturned after the Ray Rice incident (read debacle), I doubt the NFL endeared themselves to anyone after this royal screw up.

By the way, ESPN's Lisa Salters is going to interview Kareem Hunt at 11AM Easterntoday to get his side of the story. Because it happened to my team, I'm sick of the whole situation already and have no intention of watching the interview.

During the interview, Hunt only said he was sorry to the woman he assaulted at the end when pressed by Lisa Salters. He only regrets being caught, that is quite clear. Good for the Chiefs in their swift action.

Didn't watch the interview but I've seen a partial transcript and have to agree with you. And the league is now looking into an incident in June involving Hunt. I understand during the interview he expressed the hope of a second chance in the NFL. It's way too soon to even be thinking about that and makes me wonder if he understands how completely unacceptable his behavior has been.

I don’t believe he cares about anything other than if he will get another chance in the NFL. He was not contrite and showed zero remorse regarding the incident.

So I saw the interview, and he said the right things for the most part. I agree that the topic of him playing again should be the furthest thing from his mind though. Not because I think he's done, but because he's now got a long legal road ahead of him. Rumor is the Browns and Eagles have shown possible interest. I don't think he gets picked up off waivers, and I don't think he'll be picked up once he clears waivers, but we'll see what happens.

A stunning revelation that's come out since this all came out on Friday, the NFL apparently didn't do much investigating into this. Hunt said that they didn't do any kind of interview with him, or with the woman. Keep in mind, the vid may have just come out, but this incident is from February.

The NFL spent more time looking at DeflateGate and more effort into looking at the Anthem issue. I think that's telling.
