Now you all knew I was gonna come here...admit it.
I think the main reason you're afraid of what you thought of was because there's a very vague, but all-encompassing reaction instilled in you by religious tradition and belief to be afraid of pleasure...especially the mental variety. This is because the literature and even structure of belief fears that pleasure, because of it's addictive qualities, can distract you from worshipping God.
Notice, however, that the same isn't really said about PAIN, even though it can have the same effect or even worse (can turn you AGAINST God in many cases)...but I chalk this up to the fact that Pain is useful to religion to maintain it's stranglehold on the human mind.
The idea that God requires worship and piety 24-7 by ALL humans on Earth makes me think that God has His OWN addiction to pleasure, but I'll leave that can of worms shut for now.
Tickling and being tickled is not a sin but I suppose it could be done in conjunction with other behavior which is sinful.

For the religious parties, this quote says it best. It's short, direct, and manages to properly separate the qualities that this issue is about. I think you should run with this...the fact that you thought of this in CHURCH is probably what makes you think the thought was sinful, but I doubt you could blame that on God and blame it more on a boring procession. After all, God cares more about your faith in him than the number of hours punched on a timecard doesn't He?
As far as I'm concerned, if God exists, I'm doomed anyway and I'm not too keen on apologizing for a lot of what I've done or plan to do, so he can go fuck Himself (It's His own fault for putting me here). But to penalize as stringently as we've been led to believe His own followers for having mortal lapses of human thought in His office strikes me as very ungracious and quite unjust. Who better to understand such human feelings than the god of humanity Himself?
'Nuff said.
