Dodgers clinch NL West!!!

With the Cardinals' victory this afternoon over Arizona, the Dodgers are now the 2008 National League West Champions. 😀




So the Dodgers can relax and tune up in their last four games. Looking forward to seeing who our opponents in the NLDS will be; there are 3 possibilities.

I like watching the Yanks play, I think the playoffs are more exciting when they are in and playing well, but I just recently heard that they held a closing season and stadium ceremony, and did not once mention Joe Torre, after he coached them to 4 world series championships and 12 consecutive playoff appearances.

That shows a lack of class and gratitude, Mils, and i'm glad the yanks are out this year, and Joe and our Dodgers are in the post season.

I agree......Manny was a great move at the right time, but he can get to be a moody head case that can be a ball club distraction, and I cant see the Dodgers locking him up long term.

Ive always liked Torre's management style, which seems to be to get outta the way and let a ballplayer earn his pay check, with a little tweaking when necessary. Of course it didnt hurt that the Dodgers got relatively healthy at the right time too.

Torre.

He knows how to win and strategize and he brought that to a team that needed it bad.

The LAD have been to the playoffs a few times this last decade, but have lost big every time (correct me if I'm wrong).

Also, IMO, Manny isn't/wasn't the reason LA is hot right now. It's also them getting healthy again.

They had some key injuries for quite some time and are finally seeing how good they can be if/when their lineup and rotation is intact. Manny helps this, of course, but I think they still could have made the Postseason push w.o./ him.

I can't wait for the NLCS, should be a good one. May the better team win.

The last Dodgers/Red Sox World Series was in 1916. The Red Sox had a fine young left-handed pitcher on their team named Babe Ruth. I'd like to see if they can beat the Dodgers without him. 😀
