Matt Kemp, Yasiel Puig, Alex Wood, and Kyle Farmer have been traded to the Reds. The Dodgers get Homer Bailey, $7 million, and two prospects. The Dodgers president said Homer Bailey would be subsequently released.
I'd never see Puig in anything but Dodger blue. Matt Kemp was in his second stint with the Dodgers and Alex Wood and Kyle Farmer were serviceable, reliable players for LA.
What is being speculated is that they are freeing up money and cap space to try and lure Bryce Harper from the Nationals. It will be interesting in the coming days to see if that is the case.
I think the Reds could really benefit from this trade, I'm not so sure about the Dodgers. It could propel them to the National League crown, or set them back 5-7 years. It all depends on what their return is on the trade.
I'd like to know some thoughts. Mils, being a bleed Dodger blue fan, I'd be particularly interested to know your feelings on the trade.
