Besides, I suspect they don't encourage avatar hosting also because it could get out of control.
Checking avatar pics for questionable contents is quite bothersome, so better avoiding the whole matter altogether.
Not sure, though. 🙂

TMF (at least when I was there) used to allow hot-linked signature pics, so I agree that it is probably the bandwidth issue with them 🙂

Myriads asked around when the place was young, and found little interest in avatars, so he disabled the feature and thus shifted the focus to sigs. And they don't allow attachments for the reason stated above: bandwidth.
