ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. -- Don Meredith, one of the most recognizable figures of the early Dallas Cowboys and an original member of ABC's "Monday Night Football" broadcast team, died Sunday. He was 72.

That is so odd cause on ESPN radio Sunday morning they were replaying the Monday night game telling America that John Lennon was killed. Dandy Don was good on MNF he will be missed.

I didn't even know he played football, I knew him as the nice Lipton Tea dude:

"Turn out the lights, the party's over". R.I.P. Dandy Don.

So sad...I'd bet that he and Howard Cosell are arguing about something...right now...somewhere. He was fun to watch on MNF.

I'll never forget watching the "Ice Bowl", the 1967 NFL Championship game between Dallas and Green Bay.

I read years later that Meredith had complained bitterly about being forced to play in such conditions, and a number of players on both sides had health problems the rest of their lives as a result.

R.I.P. Dandy Don.

I remember watching MMF every Monday in High School with Don, Howie and Frank. I also remember watching when Lennon was shot.

No one read the "This Broadcast Is Copyright..." spiel better than Don. Especially the way he ended it: "IS PRO-HIBITED!"

His playing days were before my time. Sadly, the only time I saw him as a player was when they were recapping his career and I remember in the twilight portion hw was booed relentlessly. I remember him as the MNF color coomemtator. there was nobody like him.

RIP Dandy Don
