This is a copy of a request I sent to Myriads, but I wanted the rest of you to see it and see how many of you out there see this as a problem too...
I asked this once before but haven't heard anything yet. My request is this: When I receive a notification in my e-mail that I have a PM, the heading in my e-mail box blares out " You have a private message from the Tickling Media Forum"! If anyone were to be within view of my computer, they would see that!!! Can't it be shortened to something like "you have a message from the TMF"? No one outside of our group would have any idea what the TMF was, and my secret would be safe! How hard would it be to make this change? Come on! If you guys can't do this, I won't feel safe PMing anyone!

Can't you change this somewhere in preferences, to not getting emails at all?

Mr Tickle's right. You dont have to receive email notifications unless you want to. Just check your PM's manually when you're alone. Tis no biggie.

At the top of the page, go to Settings, then under Settings, scroll down until you see General Settings. There should be a radio button to select on the new page that should say "Receive E-mail Notifications of New Private Messages". Save changes and you should receive no more e-mails about private messages.

It certainly seems that it would be simple for the Mods to change the subject line of the emails being sent from this site to TMF instead of Tickling Media Forum. I agree with you that the email subject line should be more discreet.

Sending a message to Myriads is the correct thing to do. I don't know how long ago you sent him a message. Give him a few weeks though, since he may have more pressing issues to deal with. Did you use the email address on the "contact us" link at the very bottom of this web page?

Disabling receiving emails from TMF may be an answer, but changing the subject line of the emails seems to be the simplest way of solving the problem long term.

Thanks all for the suggestions. I did get a response from Myriads, and apparently, it's not as easy as I thought it would be to rectify this situation. But, he did say that I could disable the notifications option, to which I asked him how I would know when I had a PM, as I get them sometimes when I'm not expecting them. He told me that when I logged on that there is a place that you will see if you have any in the upper right of the header on the page. I guess that will be ok.

I don't see the issue myself. I generally don't have people reading over my shoulder to begin with. If it might happen, I'd just ask them to back off. Then again, I don't live in a dorm, so I don't know what situations might be happening out there.
Never feel safe PMing someone again, but having no problems wandering the halls of the TMF PMing people to begin with. I don't understand this.

Well, for starters, I'm 57, so you can guess that I don't live in "the dorms", but I do have a laptop and live in a house and someone could possibly walk behind me when I check my e-mail. I have since corrected the problem thanks to Myriads help. Oh, and by the way, some of the people that PM me, initiate them.....

Okay, thanks for clearing that up. I'm 57 too, good to hear. So many youngans running around here now. I'll take down my preceding post.

Good to feel like 42 is young. 😉 The way I see it, if you got an unexpected PM at TMF you wouldn't really be able to deal with it until you were alone enough to look at a site with giggly nekkid wimmenfolk laughing up and down the margins anyway. So the other way to deal with it is disable the notifications and log in from time to time when you do have a private moment and keep on top of it that way. 🙂
