with roughly a month left untill the 49ers are officially on the clock, I think it would be greatly served to take a look at last years draft and see who were the big winners and the big loosers. so what are the two teams you think that did the best, and the two teams that you think did the worst.

Best, 1.) Patriots. I think that they had the best draft, because somehow after wining 2 superbowls they had 2 first and two second round picks. they traded a number two choice for Dillon, the new face of the dynasty. And replaced Ted Washington with Vince Wilfork who will turn out to be just as good if not better than washington, a lot cheaper, and a lot younger. I also think that the sleeper pick for them last year was Ben Watson. I think that with the departure of some of their long time recievers, that you will see them in more two tight end sets utilizing Grahm and Watson (lets not forgett that Watson is another one of those 4.5 4.6 tight ends that can block. You will be hearing from him in Hawaii in no time.)

1b.)The lions are only asecond because they are building a team and the Pats crystalized the foundation for a dynasty. I think that it was sheer brilliance to capitalize on Clevlands aparent lack of conciousness, trade down 1 sopt, pick up a second round choice, move that pick into the first round and essentially get the same player they wanted.) long story short they got three picks for the price of two because the Brwons believed the hype, I'll get to them later. What it stacks up to is getting Roy Williams, rookie Phenom, Kevin Jones , led the league in rushing the second half of the season, and Teddy Lehman, runs in the mid to low (sometimes even sub) 4.4's at OLB. that's three pro bowl caliber players in one draft. The only concievable downside is that once Charles Rodgers is healthy again there won't be any excuses for Joey Harrington. As long as this team stops spending money like water in free agency look for these kids to grow up really soon.

Worst-Clevland Browns. They essentially traded Teddy Lehman and Roy Williams for Kellen Winslow. I am a fan of Tight Ends, don't get me wrong, but aws i said earlier, their mistake made detroits draft a raving succes. Even as naturally talented as Winslow is a Tight end will never be able to match the production of a premiere reciever, and Williams will probably prove to be in Canton Ohio some day. Not to mention the fact that Winslow was considered an injury risk, because he is really just a very big reiever, not a true tight end, and he and his big mout were sitting out most of the season due to injury, which a lot of people predicted. Now they have cut Jeff Garcia, because they didn't have a target for him to throw to, and will be trading for Trent Dilfer to learn a new offense and start, then comes in the Rookie, and they still don't have recieves, Wilima Greeen fumbles, you get the picture.

Sandiego Chargers-This might shock a lot of people, but I think that the Chargers could have had a great draft, they had the right ideas, but poor execution. It takes 30 starts for a QB to be fully ready. More than the Arival of Antonio Gates which did help, Brees just stepped into year three and was ready to play. when they traded with NY which i htink they should have done to maximize pick value, they could have chosen anyone for NY to draft and trade. and actually that would have made the compensation a little bit better for them this year beause a Reciever (Roy Williams) or a safety (Sean Taylor) would have been less valuable than Phillip Rivers, QB and they would have more draft choices. I think that this designation could be reversed if the pick they acquired turns out to be a home run, then that would just make them average, but to mess things up by not having faith in the guy you essentially traded MICHAEL VICK for is just plain crazy. and they are not out of the woods yet. If it turns out that Brees has to leave and that Rivers is the next Ryan leaf then htis season might be a tease before the long winter for the chargers.

everyone else doesn't have to go into that much detail, but i would like to see how everyone else rated last years draft.

Okay. I definately have to agree..cause i said it when i saw the final picks..

Patriots had the best draft of any team. Wilfork, Cobb, Watson, Reid, Hill..thats a good group right there. IF you look..over the past few years..at least up to 99..New England has drafted very well. 2003 was another good draft for them..Ty warren, Dan klecko, Bethel johnson, Eugene Wilson, and 2002 was Givens, Graham, Branch..01 was Seymour and Matt Light(OT and best lineman on team) so we all know the pats pick well. Even in 99 when they picked up Brady and the fullback Patrick Pass( I really like this guy)

Worst..Cleveland...like always. lmao..enough said. Lets see if Crennel will change the Browns somemore..hes doing a decent job already.

This is a cool site..check it out for yourself guys. http://www.nfl.com/draft/history/drafts

your absolutely right, and i think that matt light is a very under rated player. I mean he has taken on in the dynasty run, Mathis, Freeney, Kearse, and Julius peppers, and rendered them all very ineffective. When i look at all of those picks, they are for the most part all still on the team, contributing, and in most cases starting. I think that when you have a system that keeps getting new people in the draft and keeping them around you will always be succesful (and a little luck finding a hall of famer in the 6th round doesn't hurt either) Here in Jacksonville i feel as though we are trying to develop too much of an "other peoples players" mentality. by that i mean sign players from other teams that developed in someone elses system, and let all your quality draft picks sit behind them while they learn our new system. we picked a great DE last year in the seventh round named Bobby McCray and he was somewhat undersized from Florida, but had a great pre-season. some key sacks in the regular season, and is on track to become one of those consistent 10 plus sack guys. so instead of maxamizing draft value and givning him a chance to start next year we went out and got a 4 year veteran from Denver and gave him 10 million in signing bonus. and it's funny, you look at his career with Denver and they did the same thing, he got better, and better, and they just let him get away, you can't build a foundation without mortar, and i think that loyalty and letting people develop in a system have been lost in todays free agency crazed game. Going back to Denver, I think someone said that there is like a 7 year gap of drafts because from all those years only one player was still on their team. They are still trying to swing for the fences by going to get a Bailey or a Lunch who did it in someone elses system, and cost lots of money. I think that the only thing that gets you in the end is cap hell that is soon going to destroy the Titans.
