last night i had a dream in which myself and my hubby were watching a movie with marilyn monroe. she and another woman were nude, dancing i think. i turned to hubby and said look she's shaved also. i mean what the hell did that mean? and another dream i had once my husband had died, and when i went to view the body, he turned like in his sleep, then he got up like a zombie and began chasing people. he recognized me and came after me. i hid from him in a room full of people, and then my teeth started falling out. do dreams have meaning? i've had some nightmares that would rival stephen king for pure horror. i hope there isnt any significance to these dreams or else i'm doomed . lol

Well I for one certainly hope that there’s nothing to dreams :wow: . Most of my dreams don’t involve zombies, I just hate the ones where I’m being chased by things as I usually end up jumping out of bed, granted this is better than falling out of bed but being 6ft1 and as heavy as I am it does tend to wake the whole house! 😀 Glad to say that my dreams are generally pleasant though.

And I’m not going to make a joke about your first dream (strange that, I’m not usually subtle :illogical ) but I think its safe to say we’re all thinking the same thing. :jester: anyway time for my mid-afternoon nap.... :zzzzz:

o tsk tsk mark how did you know i wasnt talking about legs? lol you funny guy you.

isabeau and i havent had as many bad dreams as i used to.

I hope they mean nothing.
One that still haunts me to this day was one of me sitting on the lap of the Mr.'s best friend (a guy I LOATHED) I was wearing one of those "wife beater" tank tops (which I have a lot of) and he was sucking my nipples. 😡 God...he moved to L.A. a couple years back and proceeded to kill one of our best friends as a drunk driver...

I have a couple of theories about the Monroe dream… but don’t think that is the important one. The zombies, however, is one I have all of the time. Have for most of my life. So, naturally, that is one I have looked into. According to dream specialists, zombies represent drug or alcohol abusers in you life. Kind of makes sense when you think about it.

And losing your teeth represents a fear of losing your attractiveness.

Now, my pop was one of I guess a bazillion people who dreamed about the shooting of JFK the nite before it happened. :shake: Apparently it was an epidemic...

Speaking of teeth...I wore braces for like 90 years, the only recurring dream I ever have is the one where my teeth have reverted to their original position (I was buck toothed as a kid and so f'ing ugly) I wake up, run to the mirror, turn on the lights on, only to see my perfectly aligned, bleached pearly whites looking back at me. But the dream is so real when I have it...
XOXO

Some dreams have an obvious physical cause. For example, I have dreamt that I was almost naked outdoors on a cold day, shivering, and then woke up to find that it was cold in the room and I needed another blanket.

Other dreams are just something that you were thinking about during the day, and haven't resolved.

I don't attach any special mystical meaning to them.

I don't attach much meaning to dreams either. I have bizzarre dreams almost every night. Usually not scary, just really strange. I look foward to sleeping so I can hopefully have a cool dream.

eeks steph that first dream of yours was awful. i also have dreamed about being in a crowded place only to discover i have no clothes on. i have heard thats a common dream. also falling off a cliff or high building, i usually wake up before i hit the ground. i have been told that if you do hit the ground in your dream, it means you have died.

To see others naked fortells that you will be tempted by designing persons to leave the path of duty.Sickness will be no small factor against your sucess.

To dream of genitals means that you will be tempted into becoming part of an illicit and scandelous affair.

Your second dream (corpse, loosing teeth, hiding) is bad news. I don't know if you would take it seriously or not, so I didn't get into details.

Dreams can tell us alot of things yet they can come true but that's a very rare thing for example I once had a dream that I was being chased by a tornado and later that year me and my family went to San Antonio TX for a wedding anyway later that same night after the reception there was a tornado watch and in the morning the street next to us was completley demolished "Thank God no one was killed or injured" anyway the point of the story is dreams can come true but rarely.

Yup. And you also can't read while dreaming. Ah... the many things I've learned from Batman.

Many of the dreams you're referring to in this post are Release Dreams. That is, when you go to bed at night, your mind plays out your biggest fears or the worst case scenario. Your mind and spirit then uses these dreams to solve problems.

Sylvia Browne has a book out called "The Book of Dreams" I highly reccomend it. Did you know that every culture believes in dreams in some way, good or bad. Must be something to them then.

makes sense to me crydon. and lets hope thats all it is. i would hate to think my nightmares indicate the type of person i am.

I've been told that being naked in a public place in your dreams can be interpreted as all of your insecurities are being exposed for all to see. I've had many of these.

I still have dreams where I'm back in high school, although not as many as I used to have. It's like "Oh, my God, I'm back in school, I'm forty-four fucking years old, and I'm still in high school!", and in the dream, I'm hoping no one notices that I'm old enough to be the father of all these students.

My most fascinating dreams involve water. It's like I'm navigating my way through an unfamiliar environment, a city that I don't recognize, and it's surrounded by water, flood waters, perhaps (epiphany: New Orleans just popped in my mind), and I'm trying to avoid contact with the water, for fear of drowning, disappearing, whatever. There's a famous Edward Hopper painting of a very spare hotel room, and the door's open, and all you see through the door is ocean. Just like one of my dreams.

I've dreamed that a friend of mine, a wonderful, much missed friend who died when he was eighteen, called me in the middle of the night to chat with me...

I've had other dreams where the love of my life came to see me, from wherever she is nowadays. My favorite dream of all time happened shortly after I got my discharge from the Navy, and I was living a miserable, depressed existence in my parents' house. In this dream, there was a knock on my door. I answered it, and there were three or four of my shipmates standing there, with big smiles on their faces, and they were beckoning me to come out on my front lawn. I did, and I saw another hundred of my shipmates standing there, wearing party gear, and coming over, and embracing me.

Some dreams are good, some not so good. All are fascinating.

I don't think about my dreams much but I found a website that interprets the meaning (real or not) of dreams: www.dreammoods.com Maybe you'll find something interesting there, isabeau.

I do believe dreams have meaning and can often times tell us a lot. I do wonder though, in terms of the textbook interpretation of certain symbols, where the line is drawn. What I mean is, take death for instance: universally you might say most everyone associates darkness with death. But what if you live in Alaska? Darkness might have a significantly different meaning for you. I guess I'm just not sure at what point you consult psychology/dream analysis (and I'm not discrediting it, I do believe it has value), vs yourself. I mean if someone didn't know about my above average interest in tickling, they'd just presume the textbook symbolic definition right?

What's really mind-blowing is when you're a specific place, doing a specific thing, and realized you dreamt it..... or when you tell someone about a dream you had, and they tell you they had it too! Sometimes even the same night.

one of the best dreams i had was last summer, a few months after mom died. now this is not this last summer, but the summer of 2004. i had been blaming myself for her death and had gone into my own depression. my cat then had to die in june, she was 18. so it seemed nothing was going my way and i was having a hard time fighting off the depression. one night in bed i was thinking about mom and why she did what she did. i must have drifted off to sleep, and i heard her voice saying hi babydoll. she started calling me babydoll during her last year. i said mom why did you do it? and mom answered back as clear as if she were standing right there beside me, she said babydoll, i wanted to go. i woke up then, and for the first time since she died and even before i felt at peace. she didnt hate me she didnt blame me. she was just tired of life. so some dreams i suppose are signs. but thank goodness most arent.
