the hollywood brother has many of the clips form this great site on his harddrive. The hollywood brother wants to put them on a dvd and have them play in his hollywood brother dvd player. Most of the files are either windows media or real player. how can the hollywood brother put these on a dvd and have most dvd players read these files?

I believe that Windows Media files can be converted to a DVD-compatible MPEG format with Virtual Dub (free, at www.virtualdub.org), but I don't think that there is currently any free software to convert Real Media files into the appropriate format.

The other day I downloaded Avi2DVD, but I didn't have time to try it out.
You can find the program here:

http://www.softpedia.com/get/Multimedia/Video/Encoders-Converter-DIVX-Related/Avi2Dvd.shtml

Instructions how to use the program can be found here:

http://www.afterdawn.com/guides/archive/avi_to_dvd_avi2dvd.cfm

If you have files with subtitles, the program should support that too.

For avi to dvd I have been using Divx2dvd. The latest versions are no longer freeware, but an older free version can be found here:

http://www.zdnet.nl/downloads.cfm?id=43990

If you find a more recent free version, please let me know. I am very satisfied with this program.

If your dvd player supports video CD's, you can burn them with Nero 6. It can make video CD's from avi, mpeg and wmv files.
I found programs on the internet that make dvd files from realmedia files, but they are not free. A solution could be DVDSanta:

http://www.dvdsanta.com/

It claims to convert all video files, including realmedia and quicktime.
