Hey everyone, does anybody know of any easy to use and free DVD ripping software that rips direct to avi or mpeg? I tried this one free trial thing called easy dvd rip...and its not so easy, the picture comes out great but the sound come out distorted and very loud. So that one is a piece o crap. Then I tried another called DVD encryper and the thing makes all into several VOB files and splits up the DVD at random (not even by chapter!) So, any help would be apreciated to any decent and free software that can rip direct to avi or mpeg without the headaches.

Also, Happy Thanksgiving to all and hope you had a good one :couch:

DskoDJ, try Imtoo I am looking into the site as well.
I will reply with others that I find as well.

Intervideo DVD Copy is a great condensing tool for when you need to shrink the size of a DVD down to fit a typical single layer DVD. Most DVD movies are dual layer format now, so their file sizes are too large to fit on a normal DVD-R. Intervideo DVD Copy solves that problem. This program is the reason why DVD Decrypter is still very useful.

Granted, the compression issue can be circumvented entirely if you just buy a dual layer DVD burner. Then, you don't have to worry about the file size.

By the way, you need to set up a virtual drive on your computer to use DVD decrypter to its full extent. That way, you can mount the MDS file onto this drive and use your burner to make the physical copy directly from your hard drive. It's much faster (and cheaper) than making a copy from another real drive at the same time.

Thanks for the info guys 🙂 However im mainly looking to rip from the DVD and create mpeg, avi files etc..but all the info was very useful.

Rajee, I tried that program link you dropped in the begining of the post, I gave a test a rip and still got the distorted sound as I did with the easy dvd ripper thingie..could it have something to do with the DVD or? Its a music video DVD im messin with here.
