Only just read this and haven't done much more yet with the follow up reports, however if this is true the E look stupid putting him over Del Rio on Sunday. What this does with the World Title is another question. I guess years of throwing yourself off ladders catches up quick in the end.

Thoughts wrestling fans?

It was definitely a shock, to say the least. I don't really keep up with who has what injury, but from what he candidly said to the fans about losing feeling in his arms from past injuries/surgeries, and whatnot, I'm sure it's a good idea. It's a shame to see him go, but ya gotta do what ya gotta do. He had an outstanding career, and deserves a break. I had no idea he was in his 40s, either.

I was aware of his previous neck injuries but had no idea that it had gotten to this point. Whilst i still follow the business on the interent I haven't watched a show for a long while until sunday, seeing Edge's match I couldn't happen but notice how his physic had changed a bit. Maybe that was a sign of the pain he was in out there.

The question is how will his legacy be remembered though? An 11 time world champion who helped redefine the ladder match and high risk or the guy who screwed about with Matt Hardy's real life girlfriend?

Well here's the thing, BOTH Hardy's couldn't stay sober enough to really make greatness of their careers. Now they're both slumming it out on TNA while Edge retires after retaining the title at Wrestlemania. So I guess the better question is what the Hardy's will be remembered for because NEITHER of them got to Edge's level.

And to your point, I don't think that they were dumb in having Edge beat Del Rio, it is WAY too soon for him to hold that big a strap when all he has as a finisher is the Cross Arm Breaker. I'll admit, his mechanics and fundamentals are amazing, but you NEED FLASH to be a champ. I think that Del Rio WILL hold the strap within the next year, but he needs more time.

As for the WHC, they're probably going to leave it Vacant until Extreme Rules. I could see maybe a 4 man TLC Match with Christian, Del Rio, Cody Rhodes and maybe Drew McIntyre or someone else. But I think they're going to honor Edge by giving his longtime friend and partner Christian his first World Heavyweight Championship.

Do you know how many World Championships their are in professional wrestling?

I have to give respect to Edge; all those guys (and gals) give their best!

You can add choreography to a match, but you can't turn away the bumps and sacrifices they make. Watch the Sabu versus Terry Funk; barbed-wire match. The classic matches between Hayabusa and Sabu. And, the Rob Van Dam/Jerry Flynn feud.

Okay, the WWE World Heavyweight Championship then, sheesh. I didn't think I needed to be specific in this thread.

Specifics are very important, Skinfan. LOL. Some of us do appreciate other wrestling organizations that promote more higher quality athletes in this, uummmm, what do I call it? Sports, entertainment, or both?

This isn't to say that I don't, I know there are plenty of indie federations around the country, hell I just watched 'The Wrestler' last night. I'm still finding my way around Pro Wrestling cause I've only been an active fan for about a year now, I'm trying to get history of the E before I go exploring others, though I do have an active interest in ROH.

That's cool Skinfan; I'm an on and off fan these past couple of years. I just miss the good old days of wrestling. This sports entertainment genre of wrestling is just plain boring. *Yawn*

Aw, man. He's been teasing retirement for a while, but I never thought it would come this soon. Thanks for the memories, Edge. You were entertaining as hell.

Vickie Guerrero was too much for him lol. Kidding aside, I would hate to say goodbye to Edge. He is/was always a top notch performer.

Not to hijack this thread, but when or if, will they ever disclose the 'anonymous' Raw GM? I kinda thought it was Michael Cole all along, but doubt that at this point. I also thought it would be announced or discovered at WM but that ship has sailed too.

Not that it's a major issue but I'm just finding that whole 'email' thing annoying now. They need to use it up and move on and appoint a real GM.

You know, I've wondered the same damn thing for a while. The only reason I can think of that they've drawn the whole "anonymous GM" thing out for so long is because they have absolutely no clue as to where to go with it. But I'll tell you this... it is supremely annoying (at least for me). They need to end that angle now, because I think most stopped caring a while ago.
