Elder Scrolls Online (ESO)

I've done a benefit of research on the upcoming Elder Scrolls MMO this last week, and I have to admit that I'm pretty excited about it. Overall, based on what I've read and seen in promotional videos, it seems like the development team is trying to maintain the immersive feel that Oblivion and Skyrim shared with us while integrating the multiplayer component. It's a daunting task, to be sure, and the skeptics have raised some valid points, but my hopes remain high. I'm curious if anyone here shares my enthusiasm. Feel free to discuss the game and its developments here, and if you're one of the lucky people who got into the beta test, feel free to gloat. That'd be awesome. I didn't get into Elder Scrolls until Oblivion so I missed out on Arena, Daggerfall, and Morrowind.

My steady co-op buddy, and I, are absolutely enthused! I'm undecided for now, because I tend to play Redguard, while my buddy tends to go for Argonian. We'll see...

Expectations

What are you guys looking forward to most in ESO? Personally, I like the sound of the PvP war for the throne in Cyrodiil. The mass combat, fighting to control resources for your faction, the use of siege weapons, not to mention the chance to find Elder Scrolls...it all sounds so enticing. I'm also curious as to how this megaserver thing is going to work.

You have to tell us what is going to be in which of the 3 groups. Like which one has Nords, which one has Bretons, etc.

Factions

The Daggerfall Covenant wants to see the Empire restored to its former glory and consists of Bretons, Redguards, and Orcs. The Aldmeri Dominion wants to restore the Empire, but with the Elven races placed higher than the younger and more "savage" races; this faction includes High Elves, Wood Elves, and Khajit. The Ebonheart Pact is an unlikely alliance of ancient enemies fighting to maintain their freedom now that the Empire is weak; it includes Nords, Dark Elves, and Argonians.

I'll probably just do what I always do with these RPGs; get lost in side-quests and random mobs. Explore every nook and cranny, and engage in heavy role-playing over voice chat ^^. The main storyline always comes secondary for me. I'm not really competitive, so I might not really engage in the PvP portions. I will be content so long as the PvE portions are just as involved as its offline counterparts. Plenty of random things to do, herbs to pick, and endearingly glitchy NPCs do talk to.

I just want them to make the Khajit more human looking. They were one of my most FAVORITE RACES in Daggerfall and I really Really REALLY hate how they look right now. I can't wait until this lady releases this mod (for Skyrim):

Not at all. More akin to the Ohmes-Raht breed of Khajit (aka the Daggerfall version of Khajit) which was supposed to be basically a human with cat ears and a feline tail (they'd also paint their bodies with ritual markings).

The official ESO website has compiled a list of first impression reviews forthe game. members of the press were allowed to playtest for 4 hours to get a feel for the game and pass their experiennce onto us. Enjoy!

Looks amazing so far (at least, the webpage does). Maybe we'll get Elderscrolls: Daggerfall remade someday soon?
