Embedding thumbnails

Please allow embedding of thumbnails which link to larger images. I understand the concern about idiots embedding images so large that they overwhelm the page, which is why I'm emphasizing thumbnails. For example, any embedded thumbnail larger than the maximum size of an attachment thumbnail will be deleted and a warning will be issued to the offender. Repeated offenses will bring sanctions as deemed fit by the Administrators.

Allowing thumbnail embedding will enable the content level of this website to expand enormously.

I don't think we have the ability to regulate thumbnails in so fine a way. It would have to be a voluntary rule, which is certainly possible, but would need to be discussed. Is that what you were thinking of?

Yes. I was trying to avoid the conclusion made in this thread, where no images would be allowed because some people couldn't be trusted to stay within the limits.

If you ruled that only linked thumbnails could be embedded, that would curtail the needless embedding of large images. People would have to learn how to make embedded thumbnail links (not rocket science) or forgo embedding images altogether.
