I did an internet search of this RickRolling thing. Apparently it started as an internet phenomenon, and then moved on to being an event at a New York Mets game earlier this year, and a couple of hockey games.
This may just be my opinion, but I have the album which "Never Gonna Give You Up" is on, and it's a pretty good song. Twenty years ago, that song, and Astley's other hit on the album, Together Forever, were considered popular songs. The wilkepedia said that Astley's reaction to Rickrolling was that is was "bizarre", and that when he was asked if he was going to capitalize on the newfound attention to the Never Gonna Give You Up song, he said no. His publicist said that Astley is done talking about RickRolling.
Maybe it's just me, but I think this whole hoopla over RickRolling is actually insulting to Astley. I say, Never Gonna Give You Up is what it is. A good song from a long time ago, that should either be listened to on a retro radio station, or on the net, or in our homes. Hopefully the whole Rick Rolling thing will die down on the net, and the song will go back to being what it was. A good 80s chart hit.
