My reason for posting this is twofold. First, it should make you laugh that some people insist on reacting before they think. Second, this shows that the golden rule is not outdated, but the best way to get what you want in most any situation. 99 percent of the folks I deal with are very cool, but there's always some pissed-off old man out there to make you smile.
This was an actual email, and my actual response, all for your entertainment and a peek into customer service of an adult website. Out of respect for this gentlyman's privacy, there is no identifiable info posted here. The moral of the story is

Don't be a Dick

My exact response, a whopping 2 hours later:
"Sir,
Your password is working fine, and has been since the moment you subscribed. Please be advised that the system is CaSe SeNsItIvE. I would suggest copying and pasting your password combo in the future to ensure you have entered it correctly. I have changed your password combo as requested.
With all due respect, that the way you have chosen to address this issue is less than respectfull. Between all of the sites I own, I handle thousands of transactions every month, and have been for years. I take offense when someone doesn't give me the courtesy of a polite inquiry when they have a problem. I take pride in doing business with folks in the virtual arena the same way I do with the two brick-and-mortar companies I own and operate offline. I am ALWAYS at your service, and will respond as promptly as I possibly can. I will not, however, be harassed by anyone at any time, and I would suggest visiting one of the many sites we advertise for free on ET to find a company that you may prefer to do business with.
I look forward to having you as a continuing member, but will gladly and promptly refund your initial charge and bid you a fond adeu if you insist on rediculous threats, which any law enforcement agency could honestly care less about. Believe me, there are a multi-billion dollar illegal underground of less-than-honorable websites/webmasters that the government couldn't keep up with if they tried. I would suggest referring to the golden rule next time you have a problem.
Thank you,
Steve 🙂
