So I'd exchanged private messages with a girl from this site.
Then we set up an IM session....
It lasted a while, with different imaginative scenarios discussed.... "Role play" would be an accurate term. The whole thing lasted at least 30-45 minutes... she sent me a picture of herself, etc.
Then, without warning, the girl abruptly dropped off the session and blocked from seeing her login. (I know this because while my main login showed her signed off, another AIM login I have showed her still logged in.)
There was nothing particularly different about the conversation in the last 5 minutes of the chat as in the first half-hour -- in tone, or content, or language -- so no, it wasn't that I suddenly said something out of context. Nor did she express any kind of complaint, or frustration with me or the conversation. Not even a "This is starting to not work for me. See 'ya!"
(It would be like meeting someone on a blind date, and after finishing the second drink, she just gets up and walks out without saying a word.)
Needless to say, it struck me as a little rude, after a fair amount of time chatting, not to offer even the most simple of goodbyes or explanations for leaving.
Then again, I realize it's the world of anonymous online, and I don't want to seem like a wuss here, or overly sensitive about it.
So I guess my question is: Even in something as unconventional as anonymous fetish chat, are there still rules of etiquette? Is it still possible to be rude? And should people be called on it?
Or should we just expect "anything goes"? And am I reacting like an overly formal prig here, like a guy who's shocked that the prostitutes at a Nevada brothel aren't properly using the word "whom"? 🙂
