Ever had someone say, without laughing, "that tickles"?

Ever been lazily running a finger over someone's sole or tummy, and they don't laugh but they do say "that tickles"? When someone says that, do they really think the person tickling them will go "oh I'm sorry, I didn't think that would tickle you" and stop? I mean, when someone says that something tickles, are they saying it so the person will stop, or are they maybe encouraging them to continue? What do you think their intention is when telling someone that something tickles? How do you take it when someone says that to you?

Knee-jerk response. I think they realize that what they have said was a bad idea almost immediately, though.

-Etc.

A tickling sensation doesn't have to be intense enough to cause involuntary laughter. It can just provoke twitching and some people will tell you that it tickles. My experience is that vanilla people mean, "It tickles so stop doing that."

I've had that happen to me before. When I was touching a girl and then have her say it tickles without laughing, just kinda squirm a little.

I think most people say it because either they thnk that the person won't tickle them because the person didn't mean to do it in the first place so they'll stop... or they hope the person won't do it anymore... And there are people that will stop after someone says that.. but then there are other people that'll go like "Oh really?" and then do it agai even if they don't have a tickle fetish just to be a pain 😛

Yep, I've experienced this with a female friend of mine way back in the day. It was during the summer and she'd gone bare foot on this grass we were sitting on, so I ran a finger down her foot which made her simply smile and say "that tickled." Being the oppertunist I gently started tickling some more and could see she was fighting not to laugh, however we got interupted by another friend who came over and it fizzled out. A very fun type of reaction though.

I said it to my foot doctor during last visit, afterward she was very careful.... Darn it.
