His responce was to the effect that times have changed since then, and its a whole new ball game these days. It was interesting to compare that view of the relevance of recent history on current events, to his rather crass and boorish attack on the U.S. German ambassador in which he said "you owe us for what we did for you in WW2" the declaration of which, apparently cancells out ANY attempt by the Germans do dissagree with U.S. foreign policy!

I dont think the U.S. or U.K. can be held accountable for Saddams crimes, but as I outline in another thread I am troubled by our past relations with this tyrant.

I had heard that we would be, if it's not already begun. That's ANOTHER tsetse in the babaganoush. The reason Osama's boys attacked the U.S. was in part because we had troops too close to Mecca and he wanted them far away from the holy city. But we had troops there with the permission of the Saudi government - we didn' invade - with the guarantee that they would be gone when the threat from Saddam was gone. And since Saddam kept massing troops near the Kuwaiti border every few years, and kept flying in the no-fly zone every few months, the threat was never gone so the troops never withdrew. So it was an Arab invasion and the knowledge that the Arab world would be it's usually effective self in solving the problems that got us and people from 51 other counries, including Muslims, Arabs and a combintaion of the two, blown up. Did Al Quida bring down any Arab building on 9/11? Was there any C-4 stashed secretly in Saudi spires? Any bombs blown in bustling Baghdad's business buildings? TNT tossed in tiny Tikrit? And yet....

The beauty of the human race is that there's no right answer? I prefer big boobies!
