Fav band?

D'oh! I completely forgot Crossfade! DUH!

And I also echo Krokus on System and Staind! Woo Hoo!

Gotta continue with the Steely Dan supporters here... seen them live three times, simply amazing! 😀

All time fave, however, will always be Pink Floyd 😎

Honourable mentions: Cream, Police, Genesis (Peter Gabriel era), Jethro Tull, Supertramp, Black Sabbath, Clash, Ramones, AC/DC, Alan Parsons.......

Kudos to Drew for bringing up Uriah Heep. One seriously disturbed, but fantastic band. Many people credit John Lord of Deep Purple for his use of distortion on a Hammond organ, but Ken Hensley of the Heep did it first. This is the same keyboradist who, in his old age, joined W.A.S.P. for awhile.

Imagine there's no Lennon...

:idunno: I just listened to a tribute to John Lennon, and now I'm kicking myself for leaving him off my list for all of his solo stuff (except for the Yoko inspired "Dalmation with its' hind paw caught in the car door" yodelling crap :disgust: ). Same thing for Paul and his Wings. 😎

Hey Dave, there's a recent Uriah Heep dvd out called "The Magician's Birthday" featuring the most recent line-up of the band. Only original members are guitarist Mick Box and drummer Lee Kerslake but halfway thru the show, Ken Hensley joins them onstage and plays the rest of the disc. And still not only plays excellent keyboards, but acoustic and ass-kicking slide guitar!

dang how could i forget john lennon also??? i was just thinking todays things. but heck deep purple is one of my all time fav bands as well as the animals. i had such a crush on eric burden. and roger glover of deep purple played great bass.

Couple of cool choices, Isa. Never got to see the original Animals live, but saw the classic Deep Purple line-up of Ian Gillan, Ritchie Blackmore, Jon Lord, Roger Glover, and Ian Paice twice in the 80s.

omg omg omg i had such a crush also on ian gillan he was the best singer they had. why did they at one time have another singer? and i'm thinking of the song hush which is about the only deep purple song i didnt like.

Hmm. Since I have about 400 cd's this is a tough choice lol.

My no.1 would have to be Bob Dylan, who I revere as much as you could revere someone without actually worshipping them as a God (which as a pagan I could do :rotate: ) I have 40+ cd's of the great one (my friends hate riding anywhere with me, that's almost always what I play in the car LMAO :devil2: )

2 - Leonard Cohen
3 - Simon & Garfunkel
4 - (here's a switch lol) Marilyn Manson
5 - Nine Inch Nails

Some honorable mentions (to keep from writing a novel here 😱 )
Nirvana, The Beatles, Sarah Mclachlan, Korn, Johnny Cash, Dido, Rammstein, Neil Young, Oasis, Enya............

Actually Deep Purple has had a few different singers. The one on "Hush" was Rod Evans. After Ian Gillan first quit the band in the mid-70s, he was replaced by David Coverdale, who went on to front Whitesnake. Then in the early 90s, Joe Lynn Turner from Rainbow was Purple's singer for one record.

Never heard of the Liza special but it sounds like it was pretty wild.

No Doubt (the old stuff)
Bonnie Mckee
Flogging Molly
Tom Petty
Jimmy Buffett

Rush is my #1, followed by the Smashing Pumpkins and Mazzy Star.

I really have the hardest time getting into the newer, popular, top 40's type rock bands these days. It's my thought that the big labels will sign ANYBODY, and I hear the same stuff over and over again, on my local radio anyway, so I seek the obscure, the underground, and the Indie that Internet radio and satellite radio has to offer. I tell my friends, "if I here it on local radio, I probably won't like it". My tastes lean anywhere from 80's hair/sleaze/glam rock to today's metal/goth/industrial/melodic .... so some may not be familiar...
