Fave Brakeup songs

Not to be on a sad note, but just wondering what sort of music/ songs those of you have listened to after you broke up with / had a fight with someone

Mine:
Total Eclipse of the Heart( Bonny Tyler) #1 of all time
Fade to Black( Metallica
The Mountains Win Again( Blues Travelers) .
Insensitive ( Jann Arden)

THE BREAK-UP SONG
(the Greg Kihn Band?)
"They don't write 'em like that anymor...ore! NO!
They don't write 'em like that anymore...
We'd been living together for a million yars...
uh-uh-uh uh-uh-uh-uh-uh!"

"Heartbreaker" by Dionne Warwick is a perfect breakup song I think. I've listened to it after breaking up, and they also played it on radio after a Mets game in 1989 where Sid Fernandez struck out 16 Braves and lost in the 9th on a homerun. It signifies so many emotions, of loss of love, broken hearts, failed expectations, and so many things.

the Impressions

"I Loved and I Lost"

.. I loved and I lost, It happens to the best
So I loved and I lost, and I might as well confess

Um, I have an entire CD burned just for this:

'Foolish Games' and 'You Were Meant For Me' by Jewel

'Power of Goodbye' by Madonna

'Since I fell For You' by Bonnie Rait

'End of the World' by Herman's Hermits

'Set me Free' and 'Stop in the Name of Love' by Diana Ross and the Supremes

'Die Without You' by PM Dawn

'All Cried Out' by Lisa Lisa and Cult Jam

"Since I Don't Have You" not sure of the singer; somebody corny like Pat Boone

'Do I Ever Cross Your Mind' by Brian what's-his-name

'Never Ever' by All Saints

'Good Morning Heartache' by Luther Vandross

And I plan to add "I Don't Want You Back" by that new guy, dunno the name...

And yes, I have driven around wailing these songs. Badly. Fortunately the breakup has never been permanent 😎

"It Makes No Difference" by The Band. The words are extemeley sad, ("These old love letters/I just can't keep/like the gambler says/read 'em and weep"), and Rick Danko's vocals absolutely heart-wrenching.

Good heartbreaking songs & another 2

*shiver* Bella All Cried Out.. now that;s a classic one.,.

Sole Seeker 😱 Holy Crap there really IS a breakup song?? Gotta add that one to my list.

A rather obsure one

Great Big Sea " How Did We Get from Saying I love you"

Trisha Yearwood " How Do I live" ( this one has special significance for me )

a good song thatis good if you plan to breakup with someone is Ralph Tresvant's song "Do what i gotta do". man, that song is powerful if you plan to break up with someone....🙁

"For the good times" by Billy Jo Spears.

"Don't look so sad,
I know it's over..."

"Stupid" by Sarah Mclachlan

Off off her Afterglow Cd LORD does this speak to those of us with unwise hearts!🙄

"How stupid could I be
A simpleton could see
that you're no good for me
but you're the only one I see"

There's a song by the washed-up band Nazareth called "Loved and Lost." They're better known for the song "Love Hurts," but "Loved and Lost" is a much better song.

I also like the song "C'mon, c'mon" by the Queen of Break-Up Songs, Sheryl Crow.

Oh LORDY Big Brown Eyes

Ya just reminded me of an oldie but goodie of Sheryl Crow's " My Favourite Mistake"

Another good and poignant one is Sarah McLachlan's " Fallen"

i tend to like listening to songs that don't mention breakups, but rather, are the ideal love type songs. they make me more miserable, i get thru the phase quicker.

songs like:

- you take my breath away (berlin)

- first time (styx)

although i do like "all out of love" by air supply.

Although I'm deathly sick of the song, "I Will Survive" is still a classic. Why am I so sick of it, you ask?

I stayed in a dorm for a couple months and one of the people in my hall played two CDs all the time, "Green Day" and "Cake - Fashion Nugget." I mean he played them, in their entirety, over and over and over...🙄

here's my list:

I Will Survive by Gloria Gayner

Chain of Fools: Aretha franklin

Foolish Games: Jewel

Breaking Up is hard to do(I like Ruben Studdard's version)

Solitaire: Clay Aiken

My Strongest Weakness: Wynonna

Is It Over Yet: Wynonna

That Was Yesterday: Wynonna

Tell Me Why: Wynonna (yes, I'm a big fan of hers)

There's a good one called "That Was Yesterday," by Foreigner. The song apparently is about someone who broke up with his true love and is about to marry someone else. Around the time of his wedding, he dwells on his past lost love.

"Wild Thing" by Sam Kinison. An angry, primal scream of a song that got me over a couple of girl who didn't let me down easy.

The Sean Man

"The First Cut Is the Deepest"" Sheryl Crow

"Apart" by the Cure

and One of my All time faves "Don't Cry" By G N R

Once, I broke up and listened to a Megadeth song, called "I Thought I Knew it All".

I don't know if it's necessarily a break-up song, but it could apply to just about any situation in which you don't like the hand life deals you, and whenever I'm depressed, this song tends to put me in a better mood.

remember that song, "when i think about you i touch myself"? no doubt a popular wedding diddy.

That song was.....

"I Touch Myself" by the Divinyls. Damn if I can't get my female friends to sing it at karaoke🙁

The Sean Man

The one and only time I really ever got flat out dumped was in high school. Some girl told me she was going back with her ex-boyfriend. We were in the cafeteria, and our school used to let the kids watch MTV during lunch. Three songs played while she was breaking the news. "We Built This City" by Starship, "Heaven" by Bryan Adams, and "You Belong To The City" by whoever.

Ok, none of those are really break-up songs, but that damn memory always pops in my head when I hear any one of those songs.
