Sherlock Holmes Novels

All of Edgar Allen Poe....

More to come..

Anyone who remembers my old signatures at the TMF knows that my all-time favourite series of books is Stephen King's Dark Tower saga. Over the last few weeks I've been re-reading it and it's wonderful.

Aside from that, I read a lot of fantasy, sci-fi and horror.

I forgot about Poe!
I like his shorter stories; The Premature Burial springs to mind...

It - Stephen King
Ender's Game - Orson Scott Card
American Psycho (Because I'm twisted) - Bret Easton Ellis
^ The satire in this book is so well conveyed, the movie doesn't do it justice.

Oh goodness.. some people even posted non-fiction stuff here.. :bowing:

Ah well.. Probably more like a list of authors for me, since I tend to find one book I enjoy and then devour anything else that author has written..

Robert Jordan.. Wheel of Time series
David & Leigh Eddings.. The Belgariad & The Mallorean for starters
Piers Anthony.. Just re-reading the Xanth series before trying to talk the 9 year old into giving them a shot..
JD Robb.. Nora Roberts on futuristic Viagra..
Dean Koontz.. Sole Survivor in the works right now..
Tolkien..

Many other guilty pleasures..

Did love both Brave New World & Inherit the Wind.. 🙄

Anything Vonnegut

Ahh Ven, MARRY ME!:smilelove Nothing is better than reading a good Vonnegut novel. It's like a pick your own ending story except he picks it for you and lets you know right off the bat how the story ends and you're left reading the rest of the book just to find out how in the hell these people started having furry kids (Galapagos reference)

I also enjoy the Wheel of Time series, i just hope #12 is as good as the rest of the series has been, seeing as how it's being finished by another writer and all.

My other favorites include

A Clockwork Orange (european release with the last chapter included)- Anthony Burgess

Anything by John Irving

Memoirs of a Geisha- Arthur Golden (I was actually surprised by how GOOD this book really is)

Of course anything Douglas Adams

Sacrament- Clive Barker .... i loved this book but can't find it anywhere

It and The Stand - Stephen King.. good gravvy, ya'll

Whew!! I could probably write all night, but that's enough for now

Anne Rice (The Vampire Chronicles)
Stephen King (some, not all I couldn't finish Misery, got fed up)
Graham Masterton (not a bad writer, pretty decent with the imagination/plot)
James Herbert (not bad)
Dennis Wheatley (To The Devil A Daughter and others which I have bought but haven't read yet)

I've read quite a few novels, I can't remember all the names of the authors or book titles but I love to totally immerse myself in a good thick book.

I wonder if anyone has read anything by Clive Cussler?

I started to read 'Treasure' or something like that, and I didn't get far before I had to get rid of it. And from the opinions of other people, his work is much the same throughout.

I utterly abhor his work, but does anyone else share that view?

I can't get down with Clive Cussler. Try Ted Bell or Eric Lustbader.
