My pic is Buffy cuz she had to choose between saving the world by giving up her own life or losing her own sister. Maybe I'm wrong, but I don't think Superman or Batman or Spiderman ever had to choose between their own lives or losing the one they loved, and I mean that in a literal sense, not figuratively speaking cuz Spiderman said he had to 'lose' MJ in SM2. And I realize those are male examples, but to me that shows even further the magnitude of her character's sacrifice.
