Tough choice.

His big break came in the first Nightmare on Elm Street movie ... What's Eating Gilbert Grape is really quite classic ...

The best though (in my opinion) is Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. An incredible movie based on an incredible-er (shut up) book.

Thoughts?

I enjoyed the "Pirates" movies immensely (no, not those "Pirates" movies...)

As a kid, I really liked "Edward Scissorhands." More recently, "Sweeney Todd," which was (I thought) a very clever adaptation of one of the most popular (and frequently re-done) horror presentations of the 1800's and the first half of the 20th century. Before Dracula, Frankenstein, and The Mummy, there was Sweeney Todd.

My favorite Depp movie, though... one of my favorite movies, period... would have to be The Ninth Gate.

It would be a toss up between The Libertine and The Ninth Gate (good choice San!).

But I don't think I've seen a movie that I *didn't* like him in, either.

Nick of Time

First movie I saw filmed in "Real time" a forerunner of shows like 24...

Ummmmmm.......didn't we already do a Johnny Depp movie thread already?

But anyway, I'll play along.....

Tough choice:

"Donnie Brasco"
"Ed Wood"
"Nick of Time"
his supporting role in "Once Upon a Time in Mexico"

Too many to choose from.

Drew

A Nightmare on Elm Street
What's Eating Gilbert Grape?
Fear and Loathing
Secret Window
Sweeney Todd
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory
Corpse Bride
Benny and Joon
The Ninth Gate
POTC (all three)

....think that's all that I particularly enjoyed lol

probably 9th gate. i had it down to a tie bwteen that and another movie that i can't think of now, damnit 🙁

Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas is probably my favorite that he ever did. I thought he did a great job portraying the role and the movie was pretty entertaining.

"The only thing that really worried me was the ether. There is nothing in the world more helpless and irresponsible and depraved than a man in the depths of an ether binge, and I knew we'd get into that rotten stuff pretty soon"
classic movie

Sleepy Hollow
A Nightmare on Elm Street
Finding Neverland

I imagine when Tim Burton's rendition of "Alice in Wonderland" comes out, I'll be adding that to my list.

Oh I looooove Tim Burton. Can't wait for Alice. Just watched Nightmare before Xmas for the umpteenth time last night, lol.

I'm going with Secret Window. Love that movie.

I will go with "Ed Wood" although I also liked the PotC trilogy. 😀

Eh, the older thread was rather buried. One can't expect people to search through thousands of topics from years back to make sure that something which would be relatively harmless to re-post isn't an unintended copycat thread.

Anyhow...

Johnny Depp wasn't in "Big Fish," was he?

I did forget about "The Libertine" and "From Hell," both excellent. I didn't really care for "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow," myself.

Sleepy Hollow.

And I always liked "21 Jump Street" back when I was a kid. 😀

Fear and Loathing, Nightmare, PotC, Donnie Brasco, and Sweeney Todd are all pretty fantastic. 😀
