Since someone made a thread about books, I thought that there should be a thread on music.

Favorite Artists? Favorite Genre? You know?

I guess myself, I'm more of an old school person, stuff like Motown...

HipHop, R&B. Heck, if it sounds good...

Genre: everything rock and metal.

Favorite metal band is Dope. Favorite rock band is Screeching Weasel.

anything rock and roll. The old stuff is the best though, im a huge rolling stones and doors fan. im really into my blues at the mo aswell.

70's and 80's rock.
Also pretty fond of Ska and Reggae too, when in the mood.

I love many types of music, and many artists. Jazz, Classical, Folk, and Bluegrass among them.

The late great Oscar Peterson.

I listen to and play rock and metal but I respect every genre. Music is art no matter what kind! I don't listen to Jazz much but Bugman's contribution of Oscar Peterson's solo was great

Well said. I can admire and appreciate talent, even if the genre is not my cup of tea.

I don't listen to Jazz much but Bugman's contribution of Oscar Peterson's solo was great.

Thanks, I'm glad you enjoyed it. 🙂

I would have to go with Rammstein. People tell me, "It's not the '90s anymore". But they rock! Even though I don't know what they're saying...

I'm going to be here forever.. This is the way music works for me I judge music by the song not by the band. If I like the song i don't care what band or Genre it is from. I am open to a lot of music. I don't like lot of rap however there are some rap songs i like example Gangsters Paradise i like. I like the song Guilty from Barbra Streisand, but that don't mean i like everything she sings. Beethoven was metal before metal was even thought of.His 5th and 9th symphonies blow most music out of the water.the 5th i have by karajan but the 9th is by furtwangler, which is just mind-bogglingly beautiful/majestic.and then some.i've always liked mozart's 'marriage of figaro',led zeppelin,Tool, penguin cafe orchestra, frank zappa, captain beefheart,pj harvey, johanna newsom is a new one.just stuff that has depth/feeling.early r&b - the stuff elvis used to cover rocks like a beast too mystery train/feelin' good little richard even hank williams snr.

I listen to mostly indie rock these days but like a few long-running bands like Radiohead and REM. The new Radiohead is great. Other current favorites include St. Vincent, Smith Westerns, Of Montreal, TV On The Radio, Cut/Copy, Sondre Lerche, the Mountain Goats, and The Strokes.
I like a lot of 80s and 90s alternative including The Cure, Lush, Luscious Jackson, The Pixies and XTC, and of course early REM. Going back farther the Talking Heads and B52's originally got me into alternative rock, where previously in the 70s I listened to stuff like Boston, ELO, Traffic, Eric Clapton and Tull, along with basic hard rock like early Cheap Trick, UFO, Thin Lizzy and Blue Oyster Cult.
I also like a lot of 60s pop along with the Beatles, early Stones, Steppenwolf and Hendrix.

'Machine Gun' by hendrix is just mega.I haven't heard the new radiohead album but 'in rainbows' i really liked a lot.

Metal, alternative, and I'm not sure what The Decemberists are but they're really good.
I prefer to listen to Rammstein, Cradle of Filth, The Used, and Decemberists.

top tip on listening to opera.listen to the music underneath.grit your teeth a little until they get to the beautiful bits.if only women sang like birds in real life.

Run For Home, by Lindisfarne. This was their only hit song on this side of the pond.
