The thought crossed my mind recently that in this day and age there are ALOT of movies with copius amounts of drug use, whether comedic or dramatic. Many of them are among my favorite movies.

We all enjoy the Schadenfreude of watching movies of the like (right...? well I do), so what are your favorite movies, characters, scenes, lines, etc of the genre?

Trainspotting, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, Requiem for a Dream, Reefer Madness, Scarface, Blow, Spun, Dazed and Confused or one of the Cheech and Chong movies? (those just the ones that stand out in my mind at the moment.)

Among my favorites:

Movie: TIE between 'Trainspotting' and 'Requiem' (Though Boogie Nights could technically garner consideration...)

Actor/Character: Jeff Bridges as 'The Dude', 'The Big Lebowski'. Just an awesome character. So laid back and non-chalant.

Line: Anything from 'Fear and Loathing...' ('We finally got to the room... but the key wouldn't open the door'😀)

Fav Scene: Drug deal scene in 'Boogie Nights'. Nothing beats Everyone coc'd out with Alfred Molina singing 'Jesse's Girl' and 'Night Ranger' while firecrackers are going off. NOTHING.

'Trip' Scene: Ewan's recovery scene in 'Trainspotting'. The baby crawling on the wall=CLASSIC. (The Acid Trips in 'The Big Lebowski' deserve honorable mention, as well)

Horrific scene: When Jen Connelly goes to the orgy in 'Requiem'... haunted me for days... I was SO depressed:sowrong:

Comedic scene: TIE between when Slater explains how George Washington grew Gonja in 'Dazed and Confused' and the 'Bazooko Circus' scenes in 'Fear and Loathing'

Best/worst Death: Tony Montana, 'Scarface'.

Blow was cool but the makeup they did at the end was, IMO, TERRIBLE. :cry1:

I'd say Trainspotting, Requiem, The Basketball Diaries and an Asian movie that's awesome called Protegee.

City of God (Brazilian film about cocaine and pot dealers in the slums of Rio, amongst other things) is one of my favourite films ever.

Gotta be Cheech and Chong's Next Movie (1980). I thought this was the funniest movie they did together.

I'm not a huge Justin Timberlake fan, but I thought him, and the entire movie was very good.

Some great suggestions for movie night here.

Hey Artoo, does City of God have subtitles?
Or is it one of those movies that really doesn't need it.

Not necessarily, but there is a good deal of cocaine use and of course there is that wicked scene that I (and others) have mentioned.

It's quite possibly the best single scene (drugs, crazy, comedy, shock, fear) ever.

It's certainly one of my favorites and most memorable.

I've only seen maybe 3 of the other movies mentioned so far but I was glad someone mentioned Spun. I thought it was a great and at times hilarious movie. Can't say enough about how yummy Brittany Murphy looks in that, love those little white boots she wore lol. And they made Mena Suvari's character so disgusting you can almost smell her through the screen. Awesome movie lol
 
Definitely Trainspotting. I think that movie could put anyone off from heroine. I also liked Drugstore Cowboy...very underrated film.

Even though it's not a movie, the tv series Weeds has had some of the funniest marijuana scenes.

Alpha Dog was quite good (if only for the neo-Nazi taekwondo Jew-boy who kicks the shit out of a room full of people xD ) but I wouldn't say it was a drugs movie :-o

EDIT: Don't know how, but I forgot TWIN TOWN! Best fucking film evaire. that film had everything; drugs, Rhys Ifans, an AC Cobra, Rugby, and Welsh people. "If all else fails; try Wales!"
